Medalia Beach — Attraction in Thassos Municipality

I consider Metalia Beach the most interesting beach of Limenaria due to the great combination of landscape and history. The beach is not very easy to reach by car because the access road is winding and not very good marked from the main road. Any how the parking area is reasonable large, mainly because here most of tourist are coming on foot. It was the second time in three years when we went for this beach and this year we choose the organized right side of the beach. Three years ago we snorkel on the left side of the beach and was great. This year we went on the right side of the beach and round the old pear and loading tower. This site is not so beautiful for snorkeling as the left side where there are a few of nice isolated rocks with a few pools of sand quite appropriate for a rest. My snorkeling score for the left side of Metalia beach was 4 (from 5), but only 2.5 for the right side...

Great beach. If you are staying at Limenaria the beach is at a walking distance through the headquarters of the old mines (worth it ! Flip flops not the best choice but doable). Also easily accessible by car. There is a small food and drink bar there that offers sunbeds for a good price (6€ for a set). It was the only beach bar that left plenty of space on the beach for people with their own gear (Cudos). I also saw the guy working there actually picking trash up from the beach and even going into water to pick up trash from there (Cudos again). It was indeed the cleanest beach in Thasos. The water was crystal clear and the scenery great. Best time to visit I would say afternoon....

Very nice beach with clear water. There are some clifs around where from you have a good perspective over the sea. There is a tavern also but since we were not hungry we didn't try it out. There is also a small beach to the right of it where you can get on a path from the harbor in the near town. On the path to Metalia Beach on the left as you go down, there is a good observation point with some Stonehendge like marble stones with zodiacal related inscriptions. Good place to visit when you...
