Sotiros Koukoutsi — Restaurant in Thassos Municipality

Take my advice and don’t go there. Just skip this place. This is one of the biggest disappointments based on Google ratings that I had. Honestly I dont understand how people give such ratings here. What they compare it with? I was 8 nights there and were in 8 different restaurants around the main street. This was the most disappointing.

Here is why: You eat on the street. And yes, there are cars running behind your back (50cm) every 2 mins. Forget going there with kids. And these cars are not electro cars if U understand what I mean. It even happened that 2 cars came from both directions and until they understand each other and get through U breathe the smoke. The street is not horizontal, it is inclined. So U have to balance all the time on the chair. Service is very slow. It is family run taverna so they cannot deal with all orders when full. Most important - food is nothing special. Yes - Greek salad is 5 euro = the worst Greek salad in Greece. Fish, souvlaki is nothing special. They do not accept card payments. They have the device but it never connects to the network. There are mosquitoes. Maybe they do not spray in this part of the city. There were no mosquitos in the main street...

Do yourself a favor and read this- We spend 5 days in Thassos and every single day we dinner at Sotos. Since the very first moment you know that the place has this familiar vibe where from time to time you have tourists like us and the regulars from the neighborhood. We came every single day because it was awesome, the food, the ambient and the people. Beyond the sentimentalism, the quality of the food was 5⭐️ and the prices too. In a regular night when they had fresh sea food, we would eat 5/6 plates + Drinks (beer or wine) for 35/40€. I couldn’t recommend this place more! Please be kind and understand that not everyone everywhere speaks English and even though, signs are all the time the best way to clarify. Be kind and understand that even when they’re swimming in orders they have not forgot about you, the kitchen is small and sometime overflows the amount of people arriving, but stay, believe me.. stay!! It deserves it 🫶🏼 In a personal note, thank you so much team for all those days! They were the best and made us miss Thassos in the moment that we left. Un local mic, tradițional grecesc, cu mese efectiv în stradă, o strada secundară dar circulată de mașini. Cei care trec, merg încet dar tot îți dau o senzație ciudată de nesiguranță așa ca am ales o masa de 6 persoane și am lasat copiii și soția pe partea cu trotuarul iar eu în capul mesei.

Am ajuns la 19.10, și nu erau ocupate decât două mese însă până am plecat, în jurul orei 20.10 se ocupase tot.

Am luat macrou și creveți la grill, porții mari, mâncare ok și gătită corect, de fapt ce ai putea greși la un grill... O salată grecească și un tzatiki făcut doar din iaurt gras și castraveți.

Probleme ar fi dacă ar fi alterată mâncarea... Am evitat prăjelile de teama uleiului refolosit de nenumărate ori.

Am primit la sosire o porție de pâine făcută la grill cu ulei de măsline și oregano pe care nu am comandat-o dar la 0.5 euro, să zicem că trecem peste chiar dacă nu prea mâncam pâine.

Deși se zice că grecii sunt renumiți pentru ospitalitate, nu am găsit nicăieri să ți se ofere ceva din partea casei, ba din contră să ți se bage pe gât lucruri pe care nu le-ai comandat. Deși nu e vorba de valori mari, gestul în sine lasă de dorit. Peste tot au devenit foarte comerciali, cu prețuri mari deși unii nu compensează cu nimic, aici ma refer la curatenie, servire, priveliște, etc, păcat!

Am luat o limonada de casă pe care o recomand, am băut paharul în mai puțin de un minut și un pahar cu vin alb de la pungă, acceptabil.

Sentimentul este unul de a nu rămâne, abia am reușit să-mi potolesc soția să rămânem și sincer, am avut încredere în prietenul care mi-a recomandat locația pentru că altfel nu aș fi ramas nici eu și am avut ceva emoții ca să nu pățesc ca la taverna Iatrou din Theologos dar am scăpat fără probleme stomacale.

Din punctul meu de vedere, ținând cont de condiții și locație, prețurile sunt cam mari dar cine vrea aventură și dorește să vadă un local grecesc printre case, merită încercat.
