Please ignore any negative review of this hotel, we were a little daunted after reading a couple of review but honestly it is a lovely, well situated hotel overlooking the harbour & walking distance to all the restaurants, shops & bars||The room wasn't huge but by double hanging, putting our empty cases out on the balcony & generally keeping the room tidy ourselves it worked perfectly for us. ||The balcony is small. Room 15,with just a small bistro table & 2 chairs & a hanging rail for drying but was overlooking the harbour & ideal to watch the evening sunsets.||The bed was extremely comfortable, air conditioning was free, safe was available, we didn't feel the need to use it so not sure but think it was free.|The room was kept spotlessly clean with fresh linen every day by a lovely lady who worked very hard all day.||The bathroom shower unit tray did tend to leak, only slightly but a fresh bathmat was put in each day.||The breakfast room was small but then it is only a small hotel, there was plenty of seating area to accomodate everyone, we spoke to other guests who agreed the service & hotel facilities were better than expected. There was a very nice lady, dark hair who made sure everyone was well catered for.||Buffet breakfast was plentiful with cold & hot options, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheese & ham with cereals, bacon, eggs, sausages etc & fresh loaves of bread with as much coffee & juice as wanted.||There was a coffee pod machine in the room, you could buy pods once you had used the complimentary pods, supermarket next door as well as a pharmacy||Not sure about all the moans about the steps, yes there were a few upto the front door then a few upto the reception area and if you were on the 2nd floor.||Literally down the steps & turn left or right, either way plenty of fabulous places to eat & drink. ||The Menel is perfect to explore everywhere, The George next door was recommended, we used Nicos & would highly recommend Moupayia situated just across the road, opposite the hotel ||Boat hire just across the road from the hotel as well as a taxi stand & bus stop. ||The surrounding town area has every amenity available, the staff at all restaurants & bars were polite & so hard working ||We had an early morning pickup so the breakfast room was not open but the lovely lady offered us hot & cold drinks as left us with a lunch box with wraps, sandwiches, fruit & cake which was most unexpected but very thoughtful. ||Highly recommend this hotel, for a 2Star it provided everything we needed for our fortnight's holiday....
Read moreWe have just come back from a two week holiday and stayed at this hotel. We read the negative reviews prior to our visit and believe them to be very unfair. This hotel is spotlessly clean, has the best bathrooms we have experienced in all our Greek holidays, good selection for breakfast (if you can't find something to enjoy you have a problem). The lady who ran the hotel and breakfast service and the lady who cleaned the rooms were extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. People have complained about lack of storage - we were there for 2 weeks and managed perfectly well. If you don't have enough hangers, ask for some more, they were very forthcoming. Remember this is a 2 star hotel and you get what you pay for, if you want 5 star book 5 star and pay the price. However, we think this hotel was great and would happily stay again. We had an early pick up on our last day and Could not make breakfast. We had a knock on the door the night before with a breakfast box for each of us for the morning. No one else on our coach pick up had this from their higher starred hotels!!! In addition it was my husbands birthday whilst we were there, and we returned from the beach to find a love heart made from towels with two wine glasses and two small bottles of wine. What a fantastic gesture which meant a lot. The balconies are small, but we still had a sea view from the side. They were perfectly adequate. The location of the hotel could not be better, right on the edge of the bustling village, easy walk to the main beach and all the bars and restaurants. Everything was perfect for us and we would definitely...
Read moreMe and my partner stayed at the menel early September. I wasn't overly impressed. The photos on the website are very misleading and make it look alot better than what it is. The rooms are tiny! There was barely any storage space either, which made things quite difficult as you couldn't unpack your case, and you have nowhere to put them without them being in the way. The cleaner was lovely and friendly and came everyday so that was a positive atleast. She was also very helpful, which is more than what could be said about the lady on reception who wasn't very friendly, welcoming or helpful at all. She came across quite rude infact. We had an issue with the door that opened out onto the balcony, she came to look and promised someone would come and look at it (after trying to make out there was no issue with it even though it wouldn't shut) to which no one did. The cleaner sorted it for us in the end which we were very grateful for! The breakfast was.... edible 🤷🏼♀️ but I would probably advise eating out. The location is good and near to lots of Taverners and bars so that wasn't an issue. The website advertises a roof terrace with plunge pool and hot tub, there was no sign of a hot tub, and the plunge pool could do with some TLC to say the least! I probably wouldn't stay here again, but if you're just looking for somewhere to lay your head at night it's ideal 👍🏼 Their sister hotel (Anna beach) was much better, from being able to use their sunbeds on the beach, to the food being good, there being a bar to use, a full sized pool, and very friendly staff. Definitely would've stayed there if...
