PLEASE READ: This is probably not the most beautiful beach in Zante, but it is special. Special as this is one of the last few nesting place of the endangered sea turtles. They coming back every year to lay their eggs, but year by year we are taking more and more space away from them by some of us behaving like careless idiots who are using this special beach as they trash-bin, or some other (including myself) who paid money for the sunbeds there and encouraging the “sunbed-company” to put out and rent more and more sunbeds year by year. When i left my spot from the beach i have collected that much cigarette bids from my 4 square meter area, it was enough to fill up my take away cup, plus a small bag of rubbish and none of that was mine. I think its unacceptable. Today I had an interesting conversation with a local turtle helper who told me they got no government founding at all. The beach is owned by the government and the €10 what you pay for the sunbeds is going to a lucky business owner and to the government (who clearly doesn’t care enough about these turtles). The Helper also told me year by year the situation is getting worse and worse and they find less and less eggs, which means these wonderful spices are getting closer to be extinct. SO if you are lucky enough to visit this beach, please watch out for those turtle nests, cooperate with the helpers, respect the locals, and AT LEAST PLEASE CLEAN UP YOU OWN MESS!!!
Also only if you can afford it PLEASE HELP THESE GUYS with a couple euros. There is shop with the huge turtle sculpture, and you could help them with donations or by buying something from them. Or both. ☺️
Thank you for reading this comment, and sorry if it was a bit negative this time, but i hope after some of you reading this will make at least a small change.
Also the beach is great. Soft sand, shallow & warm water, and great view. 😎👍 Go...
Read moreGerakas Beach is one of the most serene and scenic spots on Zakynthos. With soft golden sand and calm, shallow waters, it’s ideal for swimming and family-friendly beach time. One of the most fascinating aspects of Gerakas is that it’s a protected area, home to the famous Caretta caretta sea turtles. As part of the National Marine Park, the beach is a nesting ground for these endangered creatures. If you're lucky, you might spot nests or even tiny turtle tracks leading to the sea – a truly unforgettable sight! There’s a lovely family-run taverna serving delicious local food – a great spot to enjoy a meal after some time in the sun. There’s also a free public parking area, which is a big plus, especially during the busy summer months.
The only minor downside is the relatively narrow stretch of sand, but this is entirely understandable given the need to preserve the turtle nests – something most visitors appreciate and respect.
All in all, Gerakas is a quiet, beautiful, and environmentally significant beach that offers a unique and memorable experience. A must-visit for anyone coming...

As you step onto the sandy shores, you'll be mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of the landscape. The untouched coastline and crystal-clear waters create a picturesque setting that feels like a slice of paradise.
For those seeking extra comfort, there's an option to rent sunbeds in a designated area. However, some visitors have mentioned that the prices for the sunbeds can be a bit steep (€30 for 3 hours / €50 per day without a receipt). But fear not, for there are still plenty of free spots to lay your towel and bask in the warm sun.
While there's no kiosk directly on the beach, this is an excellent opportunity to prepare for your beach day. It's a good idea to purchase refreshing beverages and snacks at the nearby parking lot before venturing onto the sand.
Despite the minor downside of the sunbed prices, the overall experience of this beach is truly enchanting. The natural beauty and tranquility make it a perfect destination for those seeking an authentic and...
