I only gave one star. I wanted to give none but there's no such option. I agree we have to protect the sea turtles but then just close this horrible beach there and stop people from getting into huge boats chasing turtles. The center itself is just a shame. In dirty small tanks they keep fish ( well of cause you just rescue the trutles so no problem to catch and keep the fish in a tiny cramped tank then?!). I've seen two tiny turles lurging in their waters and they did not seem at all like they were protected, more like they need to be rescued from this place. I've seen a lot of protection and rescue centers from non profit organizations and am happy to help them out with money. But if you have to go through a gift shop with tons of turtle gifts wrapped in plastic, you visit the bar with plastic straws and a restaurant with heaps of paper tablecloths you'll ask yourself if they harm the sea and animals more than actionally protecting them... I don't know how can this be acceptable for a place like this?? It's just horrible how they scam tourists with overrrated prices for bad food and drinks, no price list, lecturing everyone really unfriendly even though in my eyes they are the worst as they take profit in this mass tourism and do not think bout the...
Read moreThe work of the center could not be more important, there is no doubt we need more places like this to preserve our nature and animals. I only gave one star though because I was shocked when I saw how hypocritical some of it is. Not the center itself but rather the restaurants and the shop next to it. They ask visitors to help the center by getting a drink or buying a souvenir and they advertise their "biodegradable straws". But what you get is plastic straws, new paper tablecloth for everyone and souvenirs wrapped in plastic given out in a plastic bag... I don't know how this can be acceptable for a place like this?? I am hoping that people will NOT stop going there to support the turtles and the amazing work the staff does but rather start asking questions while openly communicating how ironic this is and what we must change to actually have an impact on our environment and help those...
Read moreI would give it 5* if we didn't visit their café/restaurant. The centre is pretty small, but kids enjoyed seeing a few turtles that were there. The gift shop had some nice things and as it goes towards saving turtles we bought some gifts for our friends in there.
Restaurant review... if you don't have to go there then don't. The woman working there couldn't be more unhappy! We were the only people there and she looked like we disturb her time by coming. We only ordered some chips, tzatziki and a drink. To be fair when ordering tzatziki for €5 we didn't think it would only be a dip. Wherever we went tzatziki always came with pita bread so we expected the same here. Sadly not. It was just a plate of dip with one sad olive in the middle. Chips were soggy too. We wouldn't complain about it if the woman's attitude was...
