Taverna nikos — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Best food in Gerakas area. Sad we visited Nikos Taverna on our last night. Good variery of appetizers. We had fried cheese and grilled peppers, lady ofered grilled toasts to our appetizers, and it was really greate combination. Toasts come with some oil oilve and garlic and some tapenada aside in a small pot. Ten we had fried calmari with half of big lemon (that was super cool as usualy u get 1/4 or 1/8 of lemon) and stuffed with meat eggplant. On drinks we had keg beer and gin tonic. Highly recommended.

We stopped in on our way back from Gerakas beach. The place was mostly empty that part of the day, after a short wait we got all our 6 dishes together, very well coordinated. The staff were lovely and spoke fluent English, which in our experience is not the norm even in touristy places.

The food was delicious and the portions were generous. To quote the waitress, "I recommend everything": pork gyros, chicken souvlaki, mousaka, stuffed vegetables and margarita pizza for the kids, each dish was excellent. The bill came to nearly €80, which for a 4+2 dinner is...

Great overall experience. The service is very good and the staff are pleasant. Food is medium priced, there are cheaper places around but also more expensive. Toilets are clean and portions are decent too. We've been in Gerakas for 10 days, we've tried all restaurants and I can say this is amongst my favourites. Free grapes as a desert is a nice touch. The lady and the younger girl at the bar and the owner were very nice during our stay too (they always kept busy!) even when the restaurant was quiet.

Bonus point: fries are cooked from fresh potato and not frozen....
