“ASSAM STATE WAR MEMORIAL” is situated in Dighalipukhuri North Side, Latasil, Guwahati-781001, Kamrup Metro, which is dedicated to the martyrs, who fought for the India and died in the process of sovereignty. The foundation of the memorial was laid on 18th May, 2015 by Chief Minister of Assam Sri Tarun Gogoi, however, the war memorial was open for public visit in December 2016. Established as a mark of respect for the heroes who sacrificed their lives for their homeland, the memorial aims to spread the feeling of patriotism among the younger generations and for the mass acknowledgement of gallant sacrifices by our fearless soldiers. Built with the objective to show respect for Indian martyrs, the War Memorial is an outcome of brilliant architecture, design and thought; and is a popular tourist spot in the Guwahati city. The memorial houses a replica of ‘Amar Jawan’, some war equipments and awesome imitations of the famous “Saraighat battle”.

Well maintained war memorial ✌️. It is represent the History of our state and Our country. The statue of The Great warrior Lachit Borphukan and his Army is main attraction. There are lots of modern war equipments were there for display. People get to know the brief History, culture of Assam, Equipments of Indian army and Indian history in there. The place portrays the moments of war and patriotism. How Ahom kingdom's commander Lachit Barphukan led the army in the war is displayed through the sculptures. Overall, Relaxing place to walk in the evening but crowded during weekends. The greenary and the sight of the water calms the mind. There is no entry fees but they ask you to donate some money in a Box
