Read moreVisited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The ambience of the place is the first thing that strikes you. The front section is completely made using bamboo and different types of rice, pickles, traditional wear are on sale. The dining section consists of 4 tables which can accomodate a maximum of around 15 people in one sitting.
We had to wait an hour for our food and this was the only unpleasant experience at the place. They had a rush and everything is cooked fresh so I can empathise with the place. I ordered a Special Veg Thali with the Mushroom.
I absolutely loved the mushroom preparation. It was unlike any mushroom dish I have had. The oyster mushrooms were prepared in a mustard base (most probably fermented a bit) and used a lot of onions and tomatoes. The tomatoes lent the tangy tickle to the tongue. The dish was a harmony in texture as well as taste. People who like mushrooms must try this. Rice was served hot and so were the other dishes on the platter. I would have loved if some non potato based vegetable was included since all the sabzi items had potatoes that day. I loved the sour pickles too. Dal could be improved in taste. Also, the sesame pickle served on the side was a bit bland.
Service was prompt and the servers were quick to refill the plates with rice...
Read moreThis is the best place to bring your non-Assamese friends and acquaint them with the rich Assamese culture. Everything from the place’s thoughtfully hand-crafted architecture to its exotic display of Assamese cuisine and even its literature and silk is a beautiful experience to educate your kids or to rekindle the inner culture lover. The place promotes sustainability and the show is mostly run by females which makes it a place of empowerment. The food is unlike the other restaurants that claim to serve authentic Assamese cuisine and turn out to be a big disappointment. This place knows what it’s doing in the kitchen and serves great food. The duck curry and local chicken curry felt just like the one made at home, the taste being on point!
The servers and ushers too were very polite and courteous. Everyone had a smile on their face making customers want to visit the place again and again. Being right at the heart of one of the most happening areas of the city is another advantage! I’d totally...
