I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sanky Tank on a weekend evening, and I must say it was an experience worth remembering. Sanky Tank, located in a serene and picturesque setting, offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Here's my review of the visit: Atmosphere and Scenery: As I arrived at Sanky Tank during the evening, I was immediately captivated by the tranquil atmosphere that enveloped the area. The setting sun cast a warm golden glow over the surroundings, creating a magical ambiance. The tank itself was a sight to behold, with crystal clear water reflecting the surrounding lush greenery. The peacefulness of the place was truly rejuvenating, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and unwinding. Flora and Fauna: Sanky Tank is a paradise for nature enthusiasts. The tank is surrounded by a variety of trees, plants, and flowers, creating a vibrant and refreshing environment. I enjoyed leisurely strolling along the walking trails, admiring the beautiful flora and spotting several species of birds and butterflies. The park's efforts in preserving the ecosystem were commendable, as I noticed information boards educating visitors about the diverse flora and fauna that call Sanky Tank home. Activities and Amenities: I observed several groups engaging in laughter, and games, adding to the lively atmosphere. Additionally, there were designated areas for children to play, ensuring a family-friendly environment. Staff and Maintenance: The cleanliness and maintenance of the park were commendable, with well-manicured lawns, neatly trimmed hedges, and litter-free pathways. Safety and Accessibility: Sanky Tank prioritized visitor safety and accessibility. The pathways were well-paved, making it easy for visitors to explore the park. Signboards and directions were clearly visible, ensuring that visitors could navigate the area without any difficulties. The park was also equipped with adequate lighting, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience, even during the evening hours. Conclusion: My visit to Sanky Tank on a weekend evening was a delightful experience. The park's tranquil atmosphere, stunning scenery, and abundant flora and fauna made it a perfect getaway. Whether you're seeking solace in nature, planning a picnic with loved ones, or simply looking for a place to unwind, Sanky Tank is a must-visit destination. I highly recommend experiencing the park's beauty and serenity firsthand. Cons: No toilet No Drinking Water Facility

One of Bangalore's oldest and most iconic man-made lakes, Sankey Tank can entertain the whole family, be it for photography 📸 📷, fitness, or street food. Any North Bangalorean will tell you that they’ve been there more than once in their life. Spread over 15 hectares, it extends to portions of Malleshwaram, Vyalikaval, and Sadashiva Nagar, with two entrances, so you don't have to run around to get in. Shutterbugs and flower kids can happily relinquish in some macro, landscape, or bird photography 📸 owing to the variety of topics there or just to breathe some fresh air. You will find ducks, herons, lots of flora, and the odd litter of puppies just enjoying the natural surroundings and limited human disruption. Head there between 6 am to 9 am or 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the evenings 🌙 to enjoy the natural beauty of the tank which was built in the late 1800s(1882) under the administration of Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey of the Madras Sappers Regiment. This tank was constructed to cater for the water supply demands throughout Bangalore City at that time. It was also called Gandhadhakotikere at that time as the Government Sandalwood Depot was situated near it. On occasion, you can go boating, but we’d suggest you skip it to enjoy the water from the outside. With a wide jogging and walking track (no traffic jams here), an open group exercise space (we’ve seen many a yoga and laughter therapy groups), an open gym for adults and a play area for kids, the whole fam can get fit at once with an extra dose of oxygen. Relax down at one of the many benches across the route and park, or use it to catch a great sunrise or sunset depending on when you’re there.
