Established in the year 1992, the Banabitan Park, formerly known as Central Park, is located right in the middle of Salt lake area. This entertainment Park is the second largest open place after the Maidan in Esplanade, Kolkata, West Bengal. It covers an area of 60 acres including 16 acres of water body. Features: There are three interconnected water bodies which provide natural habitat to a varieties of domestic and migratory birds, mammals and fish. Besides a variety of flora and fauna, big trees like Palash, Peepal, Palm, Kanchan and some rare ones such as NagKeshar, Ashoka etc add to the beauty of the Park. Construction of a Buttrefly Park and a Guest House are underway. There is a sales counter for seedlings and a herbal garden inside. The entry to the Park is free from 5 am to 8.30 am in the morning. It is a heavenly place for morning walkers. Thousands of residents of Salt Lake gather here to walk along the paved pathway under the shadow of trees and enjoying the aroma of flowers all around. Recently the encroachment of Metro Railway car shed and thumping sounds generated therefrom have caused severe damage to this natural habitat. Banabitan remains open from 10 am to 5 pm for visitors. The entry fee is Rs 30 per adult and Rs 12 for children. Additional charges are levied on camera and parking of cars and bikes.

Some amount of renovation has been done recently and tickets have started from 1st Aug 22. For morning walk it's Rs 10. from 5am to 9am. After that ticket price is Rs 50 per head.
