I recently had the honour of visiting this place and let me tell you the experience was so unreal. On the first glance at this posh Yadavgiri bungalow with a sprawling garden and backyard area, a spacious balcony in the duplex bungalow overlooking the quiet road with very few vehicles every few minutes, it might be difficult for an average RK Narayan fan to believe that this might be a place where some very brilliant and beautiful stories like Malgudi might have taken place. Growing up we used to watch Malgudi days and somewhere down the line it started to feel like I have visited and known Malgudi for so long, met Swami and his friends. Honestly, It was quite a shocker for me when I came to know Malgudi is not a real place, but a very beautiful and extremely detailed fragment of the RK sir's beautiful mind. The details with which RK sir described the place in his books, no one could believe these are just someone's thoughts. This place however gave me an insight to RK sir's life in a way I never knew before, knowing about his life in detail, somehow made me a bigger fan of him. Watching his multiple accolades at the same place as his clothes which seemed so simple, his glasses and family pictures and every direction you see, you know his humility, his love for writing and the excellence in his craft is the reason he was who he is. It's so heartwarming to see the local government/authorities taking such good care of the place and doing the due diligence. Whether you are an RK fan or not, do visit this place because the man is well worth knowing đ this would be one of the top highlights for your mysore trip!
Ps: there are no paid tickets for this place. Just a guest register where entry needs to...

Read moreI had a very bad experience from this premise today. I am a big fan of RK Narayan Sir writing. I have been to this place an year back. I was passing through Mysore today and thought of visiting this home.
I parked my scooty inside and went. After 15 min one lady came over there and started yelling in a very bad tone, âhow dare you can park your scooty insideâ. To be precise, I havenât noticed the No parking board outside as the gate was fully open.
She kept on yelling at me in a very harsh way. I told her sorry as I didnât saw the board. Then also she continued her yelling. Finally i told her, I am really sorry and I wonât be coming here again.
In the board itâs written as No Parking. Not anywhere written we should not park inside the premises. Requesting this team to add further confusion.
Please tell that lady to at least communicate politely. I cannot go down to her level and communicate everything. People from different states, different backgrounds etc are coming over there every day. Because of her, donât make other people suffer. Give her proper training on how to deal people. Its a...
