We ended up here after watching their videos on instagram and I’m not sure if we expected too much or if we hyped ourselves up too much but the food was incredibly disappointing. The mushroom bellulli kebab was oily - like leave your fingers feeling greasy for hours oily. The taste was what you’d expect from a thin batter fried mushroom that has been baptised by garlic.
The naga chilli wings tasted like they were made in tobasco and didn’t have the naga chilli taste at all. The garlic butter prawn was absolutely bland - like literally boiled prawn with no taste and a tonne of butter that just did not feel good to eat. The watermelon feta cheese was just a bunch of watermelon with some watery dressing and the most kanjoos portion of feta that I have ever seen in any restaurant ever. So it was just watermelon for a hefty price tag.
The drinks were horrendous. I don’t know how anyone can mess up a classic ice tea? The cherry cola was made with flat coke, the guava chilli was extremely diluted.
The classic ramen was… sad. Like really sad. It was like eating ramen in diluted sambar. We ended up leaving half the bowl because it was that unpalatable.
After all of this, we didn’t have the courage to try anything else and we went to another place for our main course. I’m not sure what the hype is. Im sure my palate doesn’t match neon castles offerings, but I think I have experimented with enough “experimental” foods to definitely not go again and would not recommend this place to anybody either.
UPDATE: Right on cue, the team has posted their dismissive response that it’s not the food that is the problem but the people who dislike their food. Nobody has questioned the origin of the team or how much others have enjoyed the food. I’m simply sharing my experience as a paying customer. The food was oily, bland, poorly balanced and the drinks were terrible. Food is indeed subjective, but brushing off any dissenting voice or critical feedback by pointing to “glowing reviews” or implying that the problem lies with the customer and their taste buds, is just a graceless way to...
Read moreI ordered a Cajun pasta, added prawns in it and asked them to remove the veggies. They agreed and placed the order. They first gave me the Tuscan pasta and once I told them they got the wrong order, the first server kept telling that it was correct and didn’t take it back. When the second server came along she realised it wasn’t the right pasta and took it back. 5 minutes later the same pasta with Cajun spices added was served. I know this because my friend who had ordered the Cajun pasta as well clearly had a different looking dish. Then the server comes with another pasta saying we had ordered a pasta without vegetables. I had clearly mentioned ONE Cajun pasta with prawns and without vegetables and these guys serve me 3 dishes and all of them being the wrong one. Now I have to pay for 2 pastas instead of ordering just 1 initially.
I don’t mean to be rude or insensitive, but if you don’t know a language, in this instance English, please don’t try to speak it and get the order wrong for the customer. Please initiate or let the customer know what your preferred language is so that both of you can communicate with ease and the order comes out right. Again, not expecting everyone to speak in English, but if you don’t know a language properly, please don’t pretend to understand and argue with the customer once you’ve...
Read moreThis place is mediocre at its best day. I saw the high ratings on google and zomato and had a go at the best they had to offer, while the food was asthetically pleasing, i think it was all it had to offer, the ingredients used to make the nachos and burgers were of sub standard quality, the ones you can get for cheap at the grocery store, and even then the preparation was lacking , no proper dressings , spices or sauces were added making the food taste bland and leaving much to be desired, the only thing i could taste was the overwhelming amount of oil on the burgers patty.
The freak shakes looked good and tasted ok, nothing special about them except the fancy containers and ostentatious display.
The manager of the place was polite and considered our suggestions but said that everyone liked the food the way it was so there weren't going to be any changes anytime soon.
The ambience was non existent, if the place is modeled to look like a shack then it does a really good job. After all this the prices charged seem exorbitant. I think going here is more of a style statement than actually going out to enjoy food, if you just want some pretty pictures to post on Instagram then sure, go for it. If you want to enjoy the night by having good food and surroundings then I would not...
