Evoke the glutton inside you to tantalize your tastebuds and relish some serious flavour goals savouring Terrific Trio, courtesy Café Mezzuna.! There is something about this place that always clicks. One of the first places to give meaning to establishing world cuisines in Kolkata, I have always liked Café Mezzuna for its fancy food. Fingerlicking starters, tapas styled appetizers to hearty main courses and then finally ending with scrumptious desserts, Café Mezzuna has been my go-to place since long. And when this place boasts of a Terrific Trio, a bento box styled meal platter, to be enjoyed back at the comfort of your home or office, you know you will get the best of flavours, coupled with the strictest of hygiene checks and health standards. The Veg platter had good round sized Mozzarella Cheese Balls, stringy and oozing out with gooey hot cheese, paid these tapas appetizers with the garlic breads as you dip these into the sweet and tangy Mexican Salsa. Slight amount of heat at the back of your tongue, the Asian styled vegetables fricassee balances the heat out with its sweetness and coconut milk flavours. One preparation where the meat or vegetables are first browned, then stewed, and then sautéed with a sauce, this is very much different from the method of preparation of a stew. The sauce was fingerlicking good, and had strong Asian lineages speaking out of it. The crisp zucchinis, the juicy peppers and the crunchy broccolis seem to well absorb the aroma of the coconut leaves, making them pair perfectly with the slight tang, zest and heat from the delectable lemon chilli rice. Soft, rich and decadent chocolate brownie to end your meal, this platter would make you have serious vegetarian vibes, even if you haven’t been a fan of the same yet. Coming to the non-vegetarian combos, the first one had creamy and melt in the mouth Parsley Hummus replacing its sweet and tangy counterpart of the Mexican Salsa. Some serious Middle Eastern vibes, the combination of fresh parsley and rustic chickpeas mixed with the tahini and lemon juice was too good to resist. Next in the box were the grilled sensations of Harissa Spiced Chicken. With a wooden and smoky touch, the addition of the chillies imparted a gentle kick to the chicken, while retaining the softness and delicate texture of the chicken. The meat was soft throughout, something which is usually not the case of grilled chicken as the meat tends to lose out on all its juice. The addition of the lemon imparted the tang, while the garlic boosted the flavours coming from the harissa. For mains, the chicken strips were tossed in a rich and decadent cream-cheese sauce and enhanced by the sprinkling of freshly grounded thyme. Pairing these chicken strips with the herbed pilaf was a moment to remember. A surprising combination of grilled chicken cooked in a cheesy sauce paired with buttered rice. Imagine that! Zero points on what I did to the desserts on the side, the rich and gooey brownie evoked the glutton inside me, hoping to have more during the next fling. I wasn’t that concerned though, as the last non-vegetarian platter was as good as the other two. The usual fling of the garlic breads, this time being accompanied by a creamy mayo dip. Priced at Rs. 395/- + tax for each of these meal boxes, these can be availed through online portals like Swiggy and Zomato. A must try if you are craving serious flavour goals, these will not disappoint your palette or your appetite! #terrifictrio #mealboxes #bentoboxes #combomeals #vegetarian #nonvegetarian #cafemezzuna #swiggy #zomato #whenstomachtickles

One place which I remember going to right from my school days was Cafe Mezzuna. That time they just had one outlet at Forum on Elgin Road. They have always amazed me with their quality and quantity of food that they are serving and the price they are charging. I love the choice of dishes which are on their menu, not an extremely vast one but a perfect one with the blend of European cuisine to satisfy the taste buds of Indians. If you have been to the cafe you would have noticed that none of their dishes taste the same. Each has a unique flavour and that is what I loved! With the pandemic situation they have started this value meal platter which they are delivering to your doorstep. Again, the price, quantity and quality are all equated. I tried the following 3 platters and definitely like I already mentioned, each was different in terms of flavour and spices used. ✓ Grilled fish with lemon butter sauce, cajun spiced fish, grilled vegetables, tartar sauce, garlic bread & brownie - The fish was melt in the mouth and marinated so well that it was full of flavour. The grilled fish had a little bit of mustard used which enhanced the taste, it is one of my most favourite dish from Mezzuna. The cajun spiced fish fillet was just as tasty and I tried it for the first time. I love their concept of adding the garlic bread, a dip and a brownie. The brownie was chocolaty and sort of satisfied my craving for the chocolate fondant they make. ✓ Asian exotic firicassee with lemon chilli rice, jalapeno cheese balls, tomato salsa, garlic bread & brownie - This was the first time I had a veg main, generally the veg is restricted to pasta, pizza, salad & the mushroom cups, which is mind-blowing and my all time favourite. The firicassee is a coconut milk based gravy with asian spices. It was delicious and I loved the consistency of the gravy and the blend of the coconut milk. The jalapeno poppers were very cheesy, a good starter complimented with the tomato salsa. ✓ Thyme garlic chicken with herbed pilaf, harissa spiced chicken, parsley hummus, garlic bread & brownie - The thyme garlic chicken is a fusion of a continental & chinese spices. The reason why I say so is because the gravy is very oriental, however the spices used are more continental. It is perfect to satiate your palate along with the herbed pilaf. The harissa chicken was soft and juicy. Just relished the full platter. All sanitization and hygiene protocols set out by the government is being maintained. If you notice the pictures, each platter has the temperatures recorded of the staff handling the food. You can order on Swiggy and Zomato and the cost for these platters are kept at ₹395+taxes, which is very reasonable. If you have bulk orders they can do direct delivery as well. It's not an exaggeration but the quantity is very good and you will be stuffed eating that one full platter. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. Thank you Mr. Ankur Mandal for sending the bag of deliciousness home. Speciality Restaurants Limited always lives upto your standards.

The perfect place be it for a family dinner or a hangout with friends, date with Bae or throwing a birthday/kitty party, Cafe Mezzuna is the place. It serves lip smacking food and the prices and quantity is very much in proportion. The tasty and quality of food is of high standard and I have visited this place exactly a dozen time. This time I tried a couple of items, though by now I have completed trying the entire menu available. °Grilled Moroccan lamb chops- If you love lamb, then you must try this out. The lamb chops are cooked to perfection and are soft melt in the mouth. It is served with cous cous and sautéed vegetables. °Stone grilled chicken - Two pieces of chicken breast served with sautéed vegetables and Citrus jus. It is a scrumptious dish and a healthy meal to eat. °Crumb fried chicken breast- This is sort of an Ala Kiev. Two big breasts are rolled into a roll, stuffed with jalapeños and cheese and then crumb fried and served with Paprika potato, wilted spinach and champagne sauce. A wholesome portion for one person. °New Zealand lamb chops- This is again a lamb lovers favourite. It is served with a generous portion of potato mash and five spiced spinach.
