Thyme and Whisk. The name evokes an European vista. Though the similarity ends there. The decor is completely over-the-top and one wonders why it is believed by some that indiscriminate and faithful use of excessive colour and props will entice, while making up for a possible lack in the offerings. I distinctly felt i was floating amongst the faux flowers draining the senses in Crawford Market. And what's with the proliferation of down-turned bamboo lanterns, one too many meeting at one spot over my head? The seating is good; i could easily have sat on there endlessly. The plus point on immediate intake was a spotlessly clean outlet, until the waitstaff 'biting his nail' came forth with a bedraggled menu. There is distraction around thumbing a torn menu card; i found it difficult to concentrate. Surely there comes a day, when menu cards are given the makeover, hmmm? Perhaps, it's on the cards and i don't know about their plans! We coincidentally ordered the hot names on the appetisers listing, without knowing these had already been elevated and saluted to popularity levels by the media. But unlike the soul food (i adore thyme) i was hoping to encounter, i savoured food that sat in my bowl (read abdominal cavity - no pun intended) for a few hours further along. Not a great feeling i assure you. The locale is fab at Atria Mall; unless you get the only table available at the window with the heat pouring in (no shaded spots here am afraid), being told the restaurant was over-booked. while we sat there, and until we left, many tables remained unoccupied. I fell for the oldest trick in the book, huh, cause i did not use charm to inveigle a cosier table. Maybe it was the wrong day for me. Or maybe the food just felt like it was dealt a heavy hand in the making, this day. I wanted to believe this was a good place, after all the menu card is loaded and reading through it one feels rather optimistic. But, we erred on the side of caution and left it at the appetiser stage, distantly hoping that we would re-visit and have a...

Read moreI recently visited another branch of Thyme & Whisk located in Worli. As someone who had previously enjoyed dining at their Juhu restaurant, I was excited to try out their worli venture. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations in several key areas.
Firstly, the time taken for our dishes to arrive was unexpectedly lengthy. We patiently waited, but the delay was noticeable and dampened the overall dining experience. Moreover, I found the price to quantity ratio to be quite unbalanced. The ambiance of the worli branch was disappointing. While the Juhu branch boasted a cozy and inviting atmosphere, the Worli branch lacked the same charm.
In my opinion, it’s crucial for a restaurant to maintain consistency across its branches, particularly in terms of service quality and pricing. Even though the Worli branch is in a posh area, it doesn’t warrant compromising on the aspects that make a dining experience...
