This park is named after Madhavrao Peshwa, who became the Peshwa after the 3rd battle of Panipat. Maratha empire had suffered very huge losses in that war. Madhavrao was barely in this 20s when he became the Peshwa then in the next decade he recovered all the losses of Panipat and expanded the Maratha empire. They say that his death in his 30s due to TB was a greater blow to the Maratha empire than the 3rd battle of Panipat.
With that background, the state of this park is practically an insult to Madhavrao. Extremely ironic that a right wing govt made a memorial of Madhavrao and it isn't as impeccable maintenaned as PL Deshpande garden. (Not entirely sure why there isn't a garden or memorial after Bajirao Peshwa or about Thorle Shahu Maharaj as they both greatly expanded the Maratha Empire after the treaty of Warna, or about Rajaram Maharaj or Tararani Saheb for that matter)
Review:
The lake is closed.
All the games are dirty with pigeon droppings all over the place.
The toytrain has additional charges, parking has additional charges and everything but the parking needs cash despite 10+ yrs of "New India" "Digital India" so it is obvious that the park operator is showing a loss while pocketing the money. No wonder that the park is not maintained well!
Even the design of the park is not well, small children games are at the extreme right corner, with barely any present at the gate. No indication at the entry that there is a toy train at all. No information plaque telling where we can find games for children.
And for whatever reason, the jogging park had a board but I couldn't see the...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem of a garden. It is just next to Saras Baug. It has many activities for age group between 3 and 15.
So many good adventurous activities for all children.
Entry fee - ₹40 per child includes all rides ₹10 for every adult accompanying children
Very low charges and park is really very well maintained. All activities are in good shape and structure. There are instructors and appointed people to ensure only children are using the facilities.
Timing is 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm.
Lots of trees are planted so even if you choose 2 to 6pm slot, you will not feel heat inside.
Overall I could see children were quite happy and enjoyed all rides.
Easily it takes 2 hours of time to complete all the rides. You have to queue up for all rides and queueing up is self discipline as no one monitors who is first and who is second but eventually everybody gets in queue which is a good thing.
I insist you once go and visit as it is really very good park.
Only negative side is it is built on normal plain area so ground is covered with normal hard clay surface and no grass. But these activities are to make children strong... So that is ok...
You will not find anything to eat inside but out of the park there is chaupati road and they serve you chinese, pav bhaji, snacks, sandwiches, sugarcane juice, tea, pulav etc... So go on and enjoy those as well.
Like the review if that was...
