A delightful and one of the unique presents to her Queen by The Mewar King Rana Sangram Singh, popularly known as Rana Sanga, who had designed & created this magnificent garden of its own for the royal ladies oh his kingdom. That is queen and her 48 maids who has come to the Udaipur along with her Princess on becoming Queen of Udaipur. It is one of the amazing gardens having magnificently carved marble work every here and there. This garden is having so much fountains dancing at 5 major pavilions cum pool to avoid the wastage of water. As you enter the garden, you pass by number of fountains in a row on the both sides and greeted by water sprinkles on you that’s why it is called Welcome fountain. As we enter further, our guide Mr. Vijay Sharma show and told us the mystery of 2nd fountain ‘Sawan Bhado” by placing your palms to your Ears and hear the language of specially created fountain, it is clearly like continuous raining. Some time it is up and some time it is low in tone of rain like in sawan bhado. 3rd one is Kamal Talai that is Lotus pond. Here you will see beautiful 4 elephants carved from one piece of marble and they are also spouting water through trunks along with other fountains around the pond. Whole pond is covered with greenery and a touch of elegance of different colour lotus blooming in it. What a wonderful and thoughtful idea behind this fountain. As you clap loud the fountains go above and as you clap slow the fountain go slightly low level. Just Showing the magical work of that era. 4th Ras-Leela fountain is famous for its glory when the royal family played Holi festival. The pond was filled with colour where royal ladies’ sprinkles on each other and the maids were dancing around the pool of Ras-Leela fountain. The 5th most prominent fountain - Bin Badal Barsat.is a gem for most of the visitors. After featuring in Bollywood songs, it is the most happening place to capture in frames. This fountain was added on a later stage by Mewar King Bhopal Singh. It is like a pool with a central white marble kiosk having a lovely maiden statue. The four black marble small pavilion at each corner of pool with the stunning carvings and statue of birds on the top makes this fountain area so mesmerizing. This fountain was made to create an illusion of rain and enjoying it while dancing. Close your eyes and you will listen the music as created by natural rain. There is also a marble bench area covered with marble at floor, on which king used to sit. The beautiful flower beds with lush green garden areas, an area with different varieties of roses and hedges of flowers and bougainvillea blooming on the tops are added attraction here. To sum up we can say it is a most beautiful garden as well as a major tourist attraction...

The Positives: Pleasant Escape: Many visitors find Saheliyon Ki Bari to be a refreshing and tranquil escape from the bustling city. The lush greenery, well-maintained lawns, and relatively peaceful atmosphere offer a welcome respite. Charming Fountains and Water Features: The garden is renowned for its intricate network of fountains, some of which are quite unique and operate without electricity, showcasing impressive historical engineering. The sound of the water can be soothing and adds to the ambiance. Historical Significance: Knowing the history of the garden, built for the queen and her companions, adds a layer of intrigue and allows visitors to imagine the royal women enjoying this space. Photogenic Spots: The lotus pool, marble pavilions, and elephant statues provide picturesque photo opportunities. The overall landscaping is generally pleasing to the eye. Relatively Easy Access: The garden is located within Udaipur and is easily reachable by various modes of transport. The Negatives: Can Feel Dated: Some visitors find the garden and its features to be a bit old-fashioned or lacking in modern appeal. The maintenance, while generally good, might not always be top-notch in every corner. Crowds, Especially During Peak Season: As a popular attraction, Saheliyon Ki Bari can get quite crowded, particularly during peak tourist season and weekends. This can detract from the peaceful atmosphere that some visitors seek. Fountains Not Always Fully Functional: While the fountains are a highlight, there are instances where some might not be working or their water flow might be weak, which can be disappointing. Limited Variety Beyond Fountains: While the greenery is pleasant, some might find the garden lacks a significant variety of flora or other engaging elements beyond the water features and structures. Small Museum Might Be Underwhelming: There is a small museum within the complex, but some visitors find its collection to be limited or not particularly engaging. Potential for Noise: Depending on the crowd and other activities within the garden, it might not always be the serene oasis some expect. Overall Impression: Saheliyon Ki Bari offers a pleasant and historically significant glimpse into the royal past of Udaipur. The fountains and water features are undoubtedly charming, and the garden provides a welcome green space within the city. However, visitors should be prepared for potential crowds and a garden that, while well-maintained, might feel a bit dated to some. It's a worthwhile visit for those interested in history and seeking a relatively peaceful break, but those expecting a modern or highly diverse botanical garden might find it slightly...

Saheliyo Ki Badi is one of Udaipur's most peaceful and picturesque gardens, and my recent visit there felt like stepping back in time. This garden, often translated as "The Garden of the Maidens," was built by Maharana Sangram Singh II in the 18th century, specifically for the royal ladies. As I entered, I could almost imagine the maids and princesses strolling through the pathways, enjoying the beauty and tranquility of this retreat.

The moment I walked through the gate, I was greeted by lush greenery and the soothing sound of fountains. These fountains are one of the highlights of the garden, and they operate using just the natural pressure from the nearby Fateh Sagar Lake, which adds to the charm. Walking past the elegant pavilions, I admired the lotus pools—each one more serene than the last. The setting was perfect for quiet reflection, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

As I wandered further, the beautifully sculpted marble pavilions caught my attention. These white pavilions, in contrast with the bright green of the garden, were designed for the royal ladies to sit and relax. There is something incredibly regal about this place; even as a visitor, you can feel the luxury and care that went into creating such a beautiful escape.

Another unique feature of Saheliyo Ki Badi is the abundance of trees and flowers. The garden is home to various species of trees, including bougainvillea and Gulmohar, which were in full bloom during my visit. The fragrance of the flowers added another layer to the sensory experience, making the stroll through the garden even more refreshing.

The history of the garden is also quite fascinating. It was designed to give the royal women a place to relax and enjoy themselves, away from the prying eyes of the outside world. Even today, the garden manages to maintain that sense of privacy and exclusivity. There's a certain sense of serenity here that makes it easy to imagine why the royal ladies cherished this space so much.

I spent some time sitting on one of the benches, listening to the sound of the fountains and the occasional chirping of birds. The atmosphere here is perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful moment in Udaipur. Before leaving, I took one last look at the fountains dancing in the sunlight, their gentle mist cooling the air around me.

Overall, my visit to Saheliyo Ki Badi was an enchanting experience. It's not just a historical site but a living testament to the beauty and elegance of Udaipur's royal past. If you're ever in Udaipur, I highly recommend visiting this garden to experience its serenity and...
