It is the temple located in Tamabaram mainly dedicated to Lord Sarabeshwara and Pratyangira Devi. It is located at Mahalaxmi Nagar. You can take a bus from Tambaram to this place (bus no. 99) or if you have your own vehicle it is better. This temple consists of dieties all of which are huge in size idols unlike the traditional temples in which all the dieties are limited to small-medium size. So you can have great views of the dieties and nothing to complain there. The dieties present in this temple are Vinayagar, Panchamuki Hanuman, Ayyapa, Shani Deva, Bhuvaneshwari, Chakra Alwar, Lakshmi Narasimha, Nandi and Sahasra Linga. The temple was originally started by guru Santhananda swami. So there is an idol to commemorate his contribution to the temple. The Lord Sarabeshwara and Pratyangira Devi as seated facing opposite to each other. You can wait in the queue to get darshan and when you approach near the diety they will spray thirtham on you. After having darshan, you can wait in another queue to get thirtham, this time you can take empty water bottle or small container to full it with tirtham i.e they will give you how much you want. There is also line to get prasadam. On auspicious days they will distribute bangles to the women. Very unique and must place to visit with your family. After getting darshan and coming out to the main road you can take bus to Tambaram bus stand and from here buses are availible to many locations or you can go to the railway station which is walk able distance from the Tambaram bus stand. Many devotees can be seen on weekends, other days crowd is less compared to weekends. Management is doing a great job, be it the cleanliness of the temple, parking space or toilets everything is taken care. Also if there are issues if brought to the notice of the management immediate actions are taken. On all auspicious days and festivals there is prasadam distribution and it is very delicious.
Things to improve
To approach the temple from Mahalakshmi Nagar Bus stop the road is very Narrow and full of potholes. Step needs to be taken for better accessibility of such a Good Temple.
On festival days more persons needed to manage the crowd in parking spaces.
The rental charge for the Event hall inside the temple is too high compared to other Party/Event halls...
This temple located in Mahalakshmi Nagar, Tambaram East though called Skandasramam is not only dedicated to Lord Swaminatha Swamy (he's known by this name here) but all deities you could think of. The place is vast with sanctums dedicated to Lord Heramba Ganapati, Siva Linga, Sarabeswarar, Swaminatha Swamy, Panchamuga Anjaneya, Dattatreya, Ayyappan, Chakkarathazhwar, Lakshmi Narasimhar, Sanesswarar, Goddess Bhuvaneswari, Prathyangira, Ashtabuja Mahalakshmi to name a few. Unlike most of the temples, all the statues are so huge in size here. There is a homam performed for Goddess Prathyangira every morning between 9 to 11 since 1996 and devotees can contribute required items which is available in the counter set up for this purpose.
