This place will immerse you in a holy vibe. You will find a serene peace in the atmosphere while visiting this place. The four gates of the Rameswaram temple are architectural masterpieces. This place is not only considered as one of the chardhams in India but, it also falls under the category of 12 jyotirlingas. This place has a rich history in place. This is the very place from where Lord Rama, alongwith the assistance of his vanar sena, Lord Hanuman and Lord Lakshman, marched towards Sri Lanka to free his wife Mata Sita from the custody of the demon king Ravana. Later, after fight with Ravana, they visited this place again and Mata Sita established the Shivalinga here. Later Lord Hanuman returned with another Shivalinga (from Kailash) which is also erected at the side. Since then, the deity is getting worshipped to this date.
The management of the temple is commendable. Before entering the temple, you should take 3 dips in the holy water of the Agniteertham. Then you should enter the temple through the north gate to take bath in the 22 kunds (bais kunda snana). There are dedicated places in front of the gate where you can keep your shoes and sleepers but majority of people leave their sleepers in front of the gate itself. Mobile phones are allowed inside the temple premises but it has to be kept in silent mode. Also, taking pictures of the main deity is not allowed. After entering through the north gate, you can buy tickets for the bais kunda snana at a nominal price. You should pass through and take bath in the 22 kunds (assistants are there who will uplift water from the wells and will sprinkle the water on you). Legend says that Lord Rama created these kunds with his remaining arrows (after returning from Lanka) which helped in quenching the thirst of his assistants. After having done with the bais kunda snana, the devotees should change their drenched clothes in the changing room. After this, the devotees must pass through the long passageway to enter the main temple for darshan. 3 separate ques (named free darshan, special darshan and quick darshan) are there for darshan. Devotees can buy tickets for special or quick darshan according to their preference. No tickets are required for free darshan. After darshan, one can roam around the temple to view and pray at the other small temples situated in the temple premises. Temple timings are from 5 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm.

Read moreRameshwaram.🙏❤️🌹 Love this wonderful place for two reasons 💗 Lord Rama and our most beloved Dr Abdul Kalam Sir.🙏❣️ And of course it's serene waters surrounding .. looking like Mauritius, really.👍❤️ Lord Rama was in a depression worrying how to defeat the Invincible Ravana? Ravana, did penance for 10000 years! A Parama Bhakt of Lord Siva.🙏 Lifted Kailas Parbat.🤔 He was a great Musician which many aren't aware. He took out his intestines, believe me, and created RudraVeena instrument 🙏 And created 32 Raagas 🌹 Ravana is the Father and founder of Karnataki Music 🎶🎵 people may not agree with me.. So Lord Rama was really worried, how to win over this Mighty and Invincible Ravana. Then, our most beloved Sage Agastya comes here to Rameshwaram, wherein Lord Rama was planning with his brother Laxman. Says the Sage Agastya, O Lord Rama, your mission is to defeat the Invincible Ravana, you're being helped by the 🐒 monkeys military! And you have to cross this big sea! How are you going to accomplish this mighty challenge? Then Sage Agastya preaches Aditya Hridayam.🙏 to Lord Rama and says, please chant this Mantra. And Pray Lord Surya to bless you with all the strength and Grace.🙏 And later, worship Lord Siva also to bless you. Accordingly, Lord Rama worshipped Surya Bhagawaan 🙏 by chanting Aditya Hridayam.🙏 And made a Sivalingam on the banks of Rameshwaram and worshipped. Thus, Lord Rama came out of depression and got motivated. And with the help of Laxman and Vanarasena, Sugreeva, Nala, Neela and his Sena, built the bridge of stones across the see of 16 kms to reach Lanka. Meanwhile, when all the Vanarasena were busy with making this bridge, a squirrel was just curious, what's happening over here and amazed to see lots of monkeys putting up the stones! Then inspired by the monkeys, the squirrel started rolling over the sand, come back and again roll over the bridge, this adding little amount of sand to the bridge! Thus, the little squirrel did it's service to Lord Rama! This is called AliluSeva.🤔🙏 And the rest is history. Chanting of Aditya Hridayam is most important to all of us. It improves eye sight also. I appeal to all eye specialists, to give Rx of Aditya Hridayam to all their patients.🙏 Thanks for reading 💕💕 take care 🙂 Visit Rameshwaram and...
