Sri Murugan Mess — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

This was very interesting experiance. I seen lot of very good reviews abt this food point and that made me to visit the place. My first impression by seeing a very small place in a narrow lane was not good and I return from outside. As a north indian I tried north indian food in rameswaram in different marwadi bhojanalayas. Most of them are not good as some places food was bad..somewhere no cleanliness .. So after much self persuasion I came back to this food point and went inside. The owner is very humble guy and knows hindi also. We ordered idli and ghee podi dosa... They dont use plate or spoon etc.. only banana leaves. The first byte only changed my perception about this.. wow.. in such a small place he is serving very simple ..authentic.. and hygienic food.. in such a low cost. Also you need to remove ur shoes outside so no dirt inside. Place was also quite clean. After that we have tried lunch and dinner also. Lunch was very simple with rice, sambhar,rasam,chutani and papad... with nice taste. I feel the people from north may not enjoy lunch so much but otherwise ..it is worth to try. Very disappointing experience at Murugan Mess. The owner was extremely rude and unwelcoming — it felt like all he cared about was getting the payment, not the customer’s experience or safety.

To our shock, we found a black insect in our food. When we informed the staff, instead of escalating it to the owner, they simply destroyed it with their hands as if nothing happened. When we approached the owner, he casually dismissed it, saying it must have fallen from the light and insisted we pay the full bill.

No apology, no concern, and certainly no accountability. Cleanliness, customer respect, and hygiene are clearly missing here. Definitely wouldn’t recommend if you care about basic food safety and...
