I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting yelagiri boat house that was nestled in an otherwise picturesque location. While I had high hopes of enjoying a tranquil day on the water, the overwhelming amount of plastic waste that had been dumped in the surrounding area left me disheartened and deeply concerned for our environment. It is with a heavy heart that I share my review of this boat house, highlighting the grave environmental issues it represents.
From the moment I arrived, I couldn't help but notice the alarming sight of plastic waste floating in the water. Plastic bags, bottles, and other discarded items cluttered the surface, creating an unsightly and hazardous environment for both marine life and visitors. The boat house's failure to address this issue was truly disappointing and demonstrated a complete lack of responsibility towards the ecosystem they operate in.
As a responsible traveler and an advocate for environmental conservation, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this boat house to anyone. It is our collective duty to support establishments that prioritize sustainability and work towards preserving our natural ecosystems. Unfortunately, this boat house fell far short of those expectations, leaving me with a lasting impression of disappointment and concern.
In conclusion, the boat house's lack of action and the presence of extensive plastic waste not only marred the natural beauty of the surroundings but also highlighted a deep-rooted problem of environmental negligence. I implore the management of this boat house, as well as others in the industry, to take immediate steps towards rectifying this issue and contribute to the restoration and preservation of our...
Read moreThe Boat House is located within the Lake Park. It’s just a short drive or walk from the main road to the park entrance.
Parking is available in a private area, where the village locals charge for parking by issuing tokens. The cost is ₹15 for bikes and ₹30 for cars (though I’m not entirely sure about the car fee).
The street leading to the Lake Park is bustling with eateries, craft stalls, go-karts, water games, and more, offering plenty to explore.
The entry fee to the park is ₹15 per adult and ₹10 for children, with tokens issued for entry as well.
The park is generally well-maintained, though the toilets are in poor condition and unpleasant to use—they stink badly and should be avoided if possible.
The park is popular with families and couples, making it a nice spot to spend some time. There are swings for all ages, and while some slides and other attractions are under renovation, there’s still plenty to enjoy.
Inside the park, you’ll find a large lake where boating is available. Two types of boats are offered: row boats and pedal boats. The cost for a row boat is ₹50 per person, and for a pedal boat, it’s ₹200 per boat (with a minimum of 2 people). The lake isn’t very large, and boat rides last about 15-20 minutes.
While it’s not necessarily a must-visit destination, it is one of the popular tourist attractions in Yelagiri.
