📖 गंगा नदी और ऋषिकेश — वेदों में कहाँ उल्लेख है?

🔷 1️⃣ सबसे पहले — गंगा नदी का वैदिक उल्लेख

🌊 गंगा नदी का मूल उल्लेख वेदों में आता है।

ऋग्वेद 10.75 (नदीसूक्तम्) में कई नदियों का उल्लेख है। गंगा का भी स्पष्ट रूप से नाम आता है:

"इमा मे गङ्गे यमुने सरस्वति शुतुद्रि स्तोमं सचता परुष्ण्या। असिक्न्या मरुद्वृधे वितस्तया अरजिकीये शृणुह्या सुशोमे॥" — ऋग्वेद 10.75.5

➡ यहाँ गंगा नदी सबसे पहले आती है। ➡ यह वेदों में गंगा का सबसे प्राचीन प्रमाण है।

अर्थात्, गंगा का अस्तित्व वैदिक काल से ही अत्यंत पवित्र और प्राचीन रहा है।

🔷 2️⃣ क्या ऋषिकेश का उल्लेख वेदों में है?

🔬 उत्तर: "ऋषिकेश" नाम से वेदों में प्रत्यक्ष उल्लेख नहीं है।

ऋषिकेश का नाम बाद के काल में लोक परंपरा और पुराणों से प्रसिद्ध हुआ।

शब्द "ऋषिकेश" का अर्थ — "ऋषीणां केशः" — अर्थात् ऋषियों के केश अर्थात् तपस्थली।

🌿 अर्थ व्युत्पत्ति:

"ऋषि" = तपस्वी, मुनि, साधक

"केश" = शिखर, स्थान, धाम

इसलिए "ऋषिकेश" = ऋषियों का धाम

वेदों में हिमालय, उत्तर दिशा, गंगा तट, तपःस्थली आदि का बार-बार उल्लेख आता है, जो ऋषिकेश क्षेत्र की ओर संकेत करते हैं।

यजुर्वेद (शतपथ ब्राह्मण) में गंगा और हिमालय की महिमा का परोक्ष वर्णन है।
