The Chandernagore Museum and Institute (Institut de Chandernagor) is a museum and cultural center in West Bengal, India. It's also known as Dupleix Palace. The Chandernagore Museum was established in 1961. It boasts a collection of French antiques (such as cannons used in Anglo-French war, wooden furniture of the 18th century, etc.) which are difficult to find anywhere else in the world. The institute still teaches French through regular classes. The Chandernagore Museum was established in 1961. It boasts a collection of French antiques (such as cannons used in Anglo-French war, wooden furniture of the 18th century, etc.) which are difficult to find anywhere else in the world. The institute still teaches French through regular classes. Jogendra Nath Sen, resident of Chandannagar who died in France fighting in the World War I. His personal items were sent to his brother in India who later donated them to the Institut de Chandernagor in Chandannagar. The Museum is closed on Thursday and Saturday.

#চন্দননগর_মিউজিয়াম

হুগলী নদীর পাশেই অবস্থিত ফরাসি গভর্নর এর বাড়িই বর্তমানে চন্দননগর মিউজিয়াম রূপে পরিচিত। প্রথমে ঢুকেই পাথর সুড়কি বিছানো রাস্তা দিয়ে হেঁটে মূল বিল্ডিং-এ উঠতে হয়। এর রাস্তার পাশেই ছোট্ট ঘেরা একটা বাগান আছে, সেখানে একটা ফোয়ারা রয়েছে। একটা নারীমূর্তি রয়েছে। এরপর উঠতে হয় মূল বিল্ডিং-এ। মিউজিয়ামে ঢুকে প্রথমে ব্যাগ এবং ফোন জমা করতে হয়। তারপর ভিতরে ঢুকতে পারবেন টিকিট কেটে। মোট আছে তিনটি ঘর। দ্বিতীয়টি সবথেকে বড়।

🔸️ প্রথম ঘরে ঢুকেই পাবেন পুরোনো ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনার কথা। কোন কোন ইস্ট ইণ্ডিয়া কোম্পানি কবে এসেছিল, কোথায় তাদের উপনিবেশ ছিল, কোথায় দুর্গ, কী কী রপ্তানি করত সবকিছুই দেখানো আছে বিভিন্ন লেখা ও চিত্রের মাধ্যমে। সেই সময়কার বিশালাকার ম্যাপ হাতের কাজের মাধ্যমে রঙিন ভাবে তৈরি করা হয়েছে। কাগজের ম্যাপ নয়, এটা থার্মোকল দিয়েই তৈরি করা হয়েছে। রেশম বুনছে এক ব্যক্তি তার মূর্তি তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া আছে, পুরাকীর্তির সাক্ষী রাখা অসংখ্য মাটির প্রদীপ এর নমুনা।

🔹️ দ্বিতীয় ঘরের বেশ কিছু পার্ট, অর্থাৎ মূল দরজা দিয়ে ঢুকে ঘরের মধ্যে আরও বেশ কয়েকটা ঘর আছে। প্রথমের ঘরেই রয়েছে অসংখ্য খাবার টেবিল, ফুলদানি, অসংখ্য আয়না। স্টাডি টেবিলও আছে বেশ কিছু, সেইগুলিই খুবই সুন্দর। এই ঘরে এছাড়া গভর্নর ডুপ্লের একটি মূর্তি। এই ঘর থেকে ভিতরে একটা ঘরে যাওয়া যায়, সেখানে রয়েছে বিভিন্ন তৎকালীন সব সংবাদপত্রের নমুনা। কয়েকটি শোপিজ জাতীয় জিনিস, কয়েকটি ছোটো বড় মূর্তি। অসংখ্য ফটো ফ্রেমে বাঁধানো নথিপত্র। এছাড়া তৎকালীন ফরাসি নারীদের বিভিন্ন বাঁধানো ছবি রয়েছে। আর কয়েকটি আলমারিতে বেশ কিছু বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের বই আছে। এই ঘরের পাশেই ডানদিকে যে ঘর ঢুকছে সেটি শয়নকক্ষ। বিশালাকার পালঙ্ক, বিরাট আয়না, ড্রেসিং টেবিল, সেন্টার টেবিল রয়েছে। খাটে ওঠার জন্য কাঠের সিঁড়ির ব্যবস্থা। এছাড়া ড্রয়ার আলমারিজাতীয় কিছু আসবাবপত্র। এর পাশের ঘরটাই অফিস ঘর। যেখানে ভারত-ফ্রান্স এর কনফারেন্স রুম বলা যেতে পারে। অফিসিয়াল কাজকর্ম যে এখানে হত বোঝাই যায়, আছে তৎকালীন অশোকস্তম্ভের একটি প্রতিমূর্তি। আর এরপর শেষ যে ঘরটি তাতে রয়েছে সেই সময়কার বিভিন্ন দরকারি কাগজপত্র, কানাইলাল দত্ত এর কলিকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সার্টিফিকেট ও অন্যান্য কাগজপত্র, আমাদের ভারতীয় বিভিন্ন মনিষীদের চিত্র ও তাতে উল্লেখ করা আছে জন্ম-মৃত্যু সম্পর্কে প্রয়োজনীয় তথ্য। এছাড়া কয়েকটি আবক্ষমূর্তি রয়েছে। এরপরেই দরজা দিয়ে বেরিয়ে বারান্দায় চলে আসা হচ্ছে।

🔸️ তৃতীয় ঘরে সবটাই সেইসময়কার সব জিনিসপত্র। এই ঘরেরও আবার বেশ কিছু পার্ট আছে। প্রথমে যেখানে প্রবেশ করছি, সেই ঘরে ঢুকেই কাচের সোকেসের মধ্যে রাখা রয়েছে বিভিন্ন দেশের তৎকালীন ব্যবহৃত মুদ্রা। ইংল্যান্ড, ফ্রান্স, পর্তুগাল, হল্যান্ড, বেলজিয়াম, ভারত সবারকারই মুদ্রা উপস্থিত আছে। এরসাথে আছে পাথরের কিছু স্যাম্পল। এগুলি রত্ন আকারে ব্যবহৃত হত খুব সম্ভবত। এর পাশেই একটা ঘর আছে, যেখানে বিভিন্ন চিত্রকরের আঁকা ছবি রয়েছে। অসংখ্য সব ছবি। কে কে কোনটা এঁকেছে, সবকটার নাম দেওয়া নেই। এর পাশেই একটা ছোটো ঘর লাইব্রেরি জাতীয়। দুটো আলমারিতে রয়েছে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের ওপর বই। এছাড়া টুকটাক কয়েকটি আসবাবপত্র রয়েছে। এরপর আর একটি ঘরে আমরা ঢুকছি, এটাই মিউজিয়াম এর শেষ ঘর। এখানে ঢুকেই একটা বিশাল রথ আছে। কাঠের ওপর প্লাই দিয়ে করা। আছে বিভিন্ন ঘর সাজানোর শোপিজ জাতীয় জিনিস। এছাড়া একটা আলমারিতে আছে অসংখ্য সব অস্ত্র। তলোয়ার, খাঁড়া সব বিরাট বিরাট অস্ত্র, এগুলি যে ব্যবসায়ীরা ব্যবহার করত তার উল্লেখ করা আছে ওখানে। তবে মুর্শিদাবাদের অস্ত্রাগারে এর থেকেও অনেক বড় বড় অস্ত্র দেখেছি। একটা মা দুর্গার মূর্তি রয়েছে। শুধু দুর্গা আর অসুর। এছাড়া কুটির শিল্পের বিভিন্ন সব নিদর্শন আছে। হাতের কাজে বানানো, তৎকালীন বিভিন্ন দ্রষ্টব্য রয়েছে। প্রাচীন বাংলার নকশি কাঁথার কথা পড়েছি। তিনটে কাঁথা রয়েছে। ফ্রেম করা ছিল, কিন্তু ওগুলো এখন ভগ্নপ্রায়। তৃতীয় ঘরটা মূলত এইসব বিভিন্ন জিনিসের সংগ্রহশালা বলা যেতে পারে।

🔰 মিউজিয়ামের মধ্যেই পিছন দিকে ফ্রেঞ্চ ভাষা শেখানো হয়। একটা ক্লাসরুম আছে। মিউজিয়াম এর চারপাশে বিস্তীর্ণ জমি বর্তমান। বাগান আছে। এমনি খালি জমিও আছে। রাস্তা আছে জমির মধ্য দিয়ে। হেঁটেও ঘুরতে পারা যাবে। টয়লেট আছে নারী ও পুরুষের জন্য আলাদা আলাদা। ব্যবহার করতে পারেন, জলের সুব্যবস্থা রয়েছে। সবমিলিয়ে অসামান্য অভিজ্ঞতার সাক্ষী রইলাম। যারা ওখানকার অধিবাসী, তাদের ভাগ্যকে সত্যিই হিংসে হয়.....🙂
