Today we visited chandannagar outlet, we had planned for 21 person group and opted for thalis. Service and behavior of staffs were very unprofessional. So many problems occurred today.
Yesterday i visited for detailed discussion for today and they asked for an advance, I said ok and the manager said 1k then one guy (having mustache, who is the most irritating one and unprofessional) said 1k will not work, where as im ready to pay the full amount even then they said at least 3k and i offered my credit card and now they said we have closed the book (7:30pm around) so you pay to one of my staffs upi and i payed him. â now today i asked to place bottles and glasses on table they did not provide glasses. And we had to serve the coke and water to our guests. â they said it will take 5-10 minutes to prepare the thalis and when we asked to start at 2:10pm they placed 3 thalis and rest of folks were keep on waiting. â they finally placed rest of the thalis around 2:50pm â now other customer started coming and they do not even bother to entertain my guests. â i asked for mutton gravy they said its not possible to give additional as thalis do not have that facility, i asked to put from other thalis those are not yet served they denied to do so. As per previous days discussion i mentioned to order additional mutton where they said it can be ready within 5-10 minutes but even after ordering it takes 30 minutes â my guests were half feed and i had a very bad embarrassment infront of them. â last few thalis were served in paper plates, i donât know why even after paying advance and why not glass plate â finally in payed the bill they said i donât care what discount you are putting as my reputation and gesture towards my guests are important they said we did everything included & payed without looking at the bill â while leaving they said one bill is remainkng (one fried rice and chillichicken i packed for one of my guest which i again payed â while all these happening one additional mutton plate was refused by us as it was quite late as i mentioned earlier, they asked if you are not taking we can remove and we agreed, we also packed one of fish thali that I was supposed to eat which i did not as i was very pissed off by then. â now they (security) starter snatching the packet from my carâs boot and one of my guest was was in an electric rickshaw to see if the mutton plate was there or not, i returned the fish thali after this kind of humiliation. what kind of professionalism is that.
I rest my case here, enough for a day. I want the management to take care of such staffs who doesnât even know how to behave and minimum idea of hospitality, money is not the struggle point here, the embarrassment is had to face today is the most annoying one and most importantly the person with mustache is the most annoying one & must be taught a good lesson so that he understands what hospitality means and to behave with customers.
Retuning money or giving discount doesnât return my dignity infront of my guests.
Moreover, Mitra Cafe is an emotion to me and todayâs behavior of such unprofessional staffs made me stunned.
Note: I am not mentioning few other small...

I recently visited Mitra Cafe in Chandannagar and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite the café's reputation, I was quite disappointed with both the service and the availability of menu items.
Poor Service: The service at Mitra Cafe was extremely slow and unprofessional. It took an excessive amount of time for the staff to attend to our table, even though the café wasn't particularly crowded. When they finally did, their attitude was indifferent and dismissive. Our orders were taken without any enthusiasm, and we felt like an inconvenience rather than valued customers.
Food Unavailability: One of the most frustrating aspects of our visit was the unavailability of several items listed on the menu. Many of the dishes we wanted to try were not available, which was surprising and disappointing. It was particularly frustrating because we had specifically come to Mitra Cafe to try their renowned dishes, only to be told that they were not available. The staff did not offer any explanations or alternatives, leaving us with limited options.
Overall Experience: The combination of poor service and unavailability of menu items made our visit to Mitra Cafe a thoroughly disappointing experience. This café has a lot of potential, but the management needs to address these issues urgently. Better training for the staff and ensuring that the menu items are available would greatly improve the customer experience.
Until these issues are resolved, I would not recommend Mitra Cafe, Chandannagar, to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.
I hope this review conveys your concerns...
Read moreWe went for dinner at around 9pm but we got our food at 10pm on the dot. We ordered Butter Naan, Chicken Bharta, Plain Naan, Mutton Rogan Josh and Egg Fried Rice. The combination of Butter Naan and Chicken Bharta was just heavenly and lip smacking good. The Plain Naan was a little hard but I think it could be due to the blasting airconditioner over our head. The Mutton was the softest mutton I've ever had in any restaurant. The Egg Fried Rice was neither too dry nor too oily , just perfect. In terms of service I would have to say that they were quite slow in case of main courses. It could be the kitchen is understaffed or the order of so many people was bulky. Overall the food was really very good with a nice ambience.
Edit: Went during Jagaddhatri pujo. The menu had become a little limited as a lot of items were not available but it's understandable as the efficiency and delivery of food was very fast. Food quantity was sufficient and...
