Read moreDont go. Atmosphere is very bad. Super hot. We waited for 2 hours to get our starter. Idk why but they kept the restaurant open even tho they only had 3 workers. The waiters were attending the bar, the waiters were cooking food and the waiters were serving as well as taking orders. They are so so so late. We were about to leave because we were sitting there for hours and our food was not being served.... Right as we were about to leave, the waiters stopped us and told us not to go and our food would be ready in a minute. They made something and served it to us. The noodles were bland.. Not even a single pinch of salt given. Only boiled noodles and chopped up veggies. Did not even care to season with anything. The waiter who took our order went to the kitchen and did not come back until we left. Very slow servics. AC's don't work. Very dull atmosphere. Don't try the Hakka noodles. They are horrible. Overall our whole evening was wasted. Horrible experience. Don't take kids. If you want a nice dinner or meal and enjoy it comfortably don't come here. You will regret it like we did with our family. Very innapropriate for kids and very uncomfortable. The chairs are more of a chunk of wood. If you are very hungry and cannot find anywhere else to eat, only then come here. Horrible...
Read moreHotel De Chandannagore, heard a lot about it. Learned from a local that once this place was owned and run by a French lady who used to live here during the French times. Now this two storey establishment is still quite reputed as I could figure from the high ratings here. Located just opposite of another famous establishment Surjo Modok sweet shop (apparently the acclaimed Bengali sweet 'jol bhora' was invented here). The ground floor is a bar and the top floor is a family restaurant with separate entrance, but liquor is also served here.
Another special thing about this restaurant is that they serve crab and octopus preparations. We went there yesterday to try their 'crab sticks' (octopus was not available), the wait was long enough and after that what we received were soggy fried crab sticks, it was definitely microwaved and tasted off as usual with microwaved items. We were charged above 350 bucks for it. Needless to say, it was disappointing. My friend who brought us there tried the same dish in the past, where it was crispy and freshly cooked. Perhaps, our bad luck. Also, table-waiting wise it has more 'parar hotel' feeling, do not expect attentive mannered waiters patiently taking your orders. The ambience is not bad. Somewhat recommended if you do not have anywhere...
