Actually I want to write from the point of view of the artisans, small traders and women entrepreneurs who participate in these exhibitions, by putting up stalls and displaying their products and who make the event colorful & joyful for the visiting customers.
While this is a beautiful venue for people to meet each other, every time the events happen and is like an Utsav, the people of the who sell their products, mostly end up losing money. The reason is that the event organizers charge Rs 30000/- as shop rent for the 10 day event, which is Rs 3000/-per day. The reason given by the Organizers is that Kalakshetra Foundation charges Rs 9 lakhs for 10 days for the Ground & 100 Barren Tin Shops and Event Organizers have have to spend on putting carpets, lighting, side covers and advertising etc. But it is a known fact that, Organizers make confirmed profits once they let out the 100 shops, (Rs 30 lakhs), but small time traders, artisans, women entrepreneurs, artists etc who make the event so colorful, actually do not make any money. Kalakshetra Foundation, (which it is a Non-profit organization) and works for encouraging people who are talented & artistic and also women entrepreneurs, should see that there is a Cap on "shop rentals", beyond which the Organizers cannot charge rent from the participants. If this is ensured, the artisans also will price their products very reasonably ie below market prices and make these Utsav events most sought after for the general public. The purpose for which Kalakshetra Foundation stands for will be best served, if a Representative from the Foundation oversees these events and take feed back from the participants as well as the visiting customers.
Hope this suggestion is taken in a positive sense by every one and acted...
Read moreSpent almost 7 years in kalakshetra (2017-2023), Learned life creating a lot of memories in this beautiful environment. It's a miracle to have a place like this in our city. Things I love the most here are their traditional events and programs explaining different cultures around India teaching us a lot about it and making us fall in love with our own culture. As a bass student I'm going to miss my teachers and their way of explaining especially Uma prabhakar mam, Uma maheshwari mam and Irudaya raja sir. Also I should mention that there is no need for wearing shoes for 6 straight hours , believe it or not that's a huge pain relief. And to relate this place especially for marvel fans "kalakshetra is the wakanda of chennai" Advice for juniors as an average science student (proudly) : there are no good or bad students every kid are genius it's just that we don't study regularly. Believe in yourself first of all "confidence and hardwork is the key to success" (Ipdi solten-nu jolly-ah irukaathinga padinga da dei 😂). You should know that this is once in our lifetime "The happiest memory of our life that will haunt us till the day we die",...
Read moreI went there tonight for the concert with my colleague but they didn't allow him to get in because he was wearing shorts . As I complained for they not advertising this beforehand , as you can see in any of this posts there's NO a drees code mentioned , I asked to talk to someone else to complain formally , we did travel a long distance just to be told at the very door of the auditorium that there's a dress code . What we get is a rude treatment from a senior faculty named Hari Padman , who literally told the door people to shut it on our face . His way of talking and handling the situation was prepotent and rude . As a foreign national it saddens me enormously that instead of a polite treatment I got such a disrespectful response . Evidently , I wish that the beautiful and incomparable arts from this land that I admire so much could be at the reach of the most , as you said this post that ' ALL ARE WELCOME " regardless their origins , language , creed and the way they dress . Or else post " All are...
