Visited the lake today (27/3/18) . Almost three fourth of the lake is covered with aquatic plants(guess the water hyacinth ). Funds have been allocated to restore the lake but claimed it was not enough. Hope it's done sonner. Also request for an NGO or any association to take part in the clean up process like the beach clean up which has proven worthy. Chennai which had 80 % of wetland in 83's has come down to 15 %, at this rate of decline we might end up loosing our ponds lakes and other water bodies . Please preserve and protect as these water bodies help regulate and keep the ecosystem balanced . Thank you. There are several articles published by THE HINDU ,TOI...ETC which u might wanna read up. Thank you again...
Read moreLocated at the heart of the 100 feet road, Velachery. The side walks are free to enter, You can enter almost anytime and everytime. The problem is that the water of this lake is extremely contaminated and it produces a sore smell on almost all the parts around it. I won't suggest to visit the place after evening because everytime I went for a walk I found bunch of people in groups consuming liquors on the sidewalk. The place can be created as a recreational spot but the neither the government nor the people who lives near to the lake have any regards for it. Not a great place to visit although have the potential to be if the government take initiative and maintain it regularly. I won't recommend...
