Absolutely disappointing experience.
Let me start with the good part. The food was tasty. We were three, and ordered chapati, onion dosa and plain dosa, and filter coffee. Kurma was a little too oily. Except that everything else was great. The coffee was superb!!! The other good part was the staff organising the tables without much delay for people waiting.
Now... the list of disappointments.
The waiter who attended us did not replace the used glasses and refill the water jar until we asked him to. Unwashed glasses were placed all over the table even after we had our order placed.
Long waiting time for food to arrive. It took nearly 20 minutes for plain dosa. The waiter was walking up and down, and then disappearing for some time.
I personally ordered chapati WITHOUT raita. The waiter brought chapati in a plastic plate (which did not look clean) WITH raita. I reminded him about my order. He took the plate away and brought another plate, with only kurma. But that took some more time.
Overall attitude of the staff was also not great. We told the staff at the counter that it was bad service and he didn't look concerned much. It was an easy going attitude overall.
The restaurant is an established one. And they are aware of the fact that Phoenix mall won't probably have any other option for pure vegetarians.
I have seen similar comments and concerns in earlier reviews. Even if their service is bad, customers will surely visit VB. That's why their service continues to be bad.
NB: please do not bother to shamelessly copy and paste the ready-made message of how Namma Veedu Vasanth Bhavan apologises for this, and strives towards the best customer service and all. We don't want your number either. We won't be coming back to...
Read moreUnfortunately, people still fall pray to old reviews. We were 5 folks including kids. Here is the review from mother and rest The idli is definitely not suitable for babies. Giving the idli made her feel very insecure about quality and acceptance of the food by baby The podi idli was horrible. I don't know how to even classify this coz the podi idli we had in past in murugan idli shop and few more places, never made us feel tasteless after eating. Too much of chilli powder.. (it should not be called idli power). Chappati was sweet (never had this taste. Might be the chef was indeed Ratatouille)... Two starters - one paneer dish which was ok (not worthy of the brand though - any road side eatery would have made this or even better than this). There was this crispy baby corn of sort which took us few minutes to figure out it was baby corn and not another paneer dish). This was mediocre.
Bottom line, the place continues to have foot fall due to crowd and nothing else. I actually feel bad that the hotels have gone down in quality and are still profitable because we people are taken for granted and so no quality or taste is given a care.
Not to forget, the seats had previously been littered by some other customer and the table isn't cleaned checked and just offered like how yoh would be offered a seat in bus... Probably I took the wrong seat and had my dress spoit with water and food... Sorry that this made my evening absolutely a worthless evening that I do not want to keep in memory ever... Ofcourse, I hope google never reminds me of this review again just for that reason...
Don't fall for the compulsion to eat out when u visit mall, I think that should bring back tide of...
Read moreMy Brother has come from USA. As he wanted to taste an authentic South Iidian food , I took him to the newly started Vasantha Bhavan in Velachery for dinner yesterday. My experiences are as follows:
We went there by 8.30 pm and we got seat after 20-30 mts. Crowd management was poor. Even though there were too many waiters going here and there, getting menu card itself took time . Initially We ordered Yum tom spicy soup with vegetable for me and Coconut pumpkin soup for my Brother and some Panneer tikka as starter. The yum tom spicy soup was nothing but our pepper Rasam and hardly I found any vegetable in that. Then we ordered Mysore masala dosa for me and Podi Idli for my Brother. I thought I was going to get a crispy pluffy masala dosa as served in Karnataka, To my surprise I got a lengthy leafy dosa with some red pepper powder and Potato Masala. Taste was very average . My Brother instead of getting podi Idly he got Ghee mini Idli. Waiter said sorry and we said it was ok and my Brother ate Ghee mini Idli. Then we took coffee and it was good. When we wanted bill , we were given a wrong bill as the items mentioned in the bill were not ours. Again the waiter said “Sorry”. Finally we got the bill, we paid and came out. For any good restaurant , more than decorative lighting, ornamental seats or neatly dressed waiters, tasty and healthy food is important which only bring repetitive customers.
Yesterday morning only I registered a good review after eating Idli and Vada. It is very sad that I had experienced differently when I went for dinner...
