Tandoori food has several variations all over India and all are good. But being a Punjabi, I've been brought up on certain rustic kebabs, daal and curries which are unfortunately difficult to find in Chennai. Lo and behold - Copper chimney came as a knight in shining armour for my Punjabi food cravings and how!
Interestingly this restaurant chain did not originate in Punjab but in Mumbai, Maharashtra and has been in business for over 50 years. 50 years!
I've been here a couple of times and had interesting experiences on both accounts. Here I will review their sit down LUNCH BUFFET and their A LA CARTE options along with other factors and give individual ratings.
Ambience (4/5) It has a modern set up with lots of tainted glass and a few chandeliers. It's definitely gives a very OPEN VIBE and is relaxing They have a show kitchen visible through a window where one can walk over and see them prepare some of the food. Good amount of Natural light is also a big plus. Floor and tables were not very clean which was an eye sore considering the efforts put in its design. There are NO WASHROOMS in the restaurant and you are encouraged to go the mall washrooms on level down if needed. This is a huge inconvenience.
Service (5/5) Very polite and friendly staff. They KNOW their menu, dishes and portions very well. Please go by their recommendations for those confused with what to order. Ask for JAYANTA. He's a star. Full table service complete with napkins, service on the plate and finger bowls at the end.
Food (4/5) Biryani and Kebab Lunch Buffet (5/5): Priced at Rs 699 (inclusive of all taxes and service charges), this offer is a STEAL. Please take it hands down. It comes in 4 courses (Soup, starters, Biryani, dessert and a beverage) with Kebabs and Biryani being unlimited. Taste is excellent and it's complete value for money. We especially enjoyed the starters which were of 6 varieties. Murgh or Paneer Makhani (4/5): It's very rich and creamy but sweet. You should ask them to keep the spice up if ordering. Bazzar ke chole (5/5): Comes with stuffed kulcha is very delicious. It's a meal on itself. Punjabi Onion and Mirch Roti (4.5/5): Kadak tandoori roti topped with chopped onions and red chilli powder. Perfect for mild gravies. Smoked White Pepper chicken chop (5/5): Low spice creamy kebab ok the bone. SUCCULENT. Delhi Shikanji (5/5): Full of mint and sweet/sour flavour. Very refreshing Dal Palak Goolar Kofta (2/5): Horrible. Don't order. Muzaffar (5/5): EXCELLENT. Rabri consistency kheer with krispy sevai. Very delicious.

Read moreIt was a really nice experience. I went with my sister and girlfriend. We were welcomed warmly by our host Ms. Sarita with her everpleasant smile and sweet demeanour. We ordered a few fruit based beverages the pina colada was bomb! Then we ordered the full chicken grill platter which was a smart option because it had four types of chicken from reshmi, achari, pudina and then bhatti style. Then we ordered roomali and naan with butter chicken which was nice. The main highlight of the meal was the parda gosht( mutton dum biryani)!! It came in a nice clay pot with maida dum and when we cut open the dum the beautiful aroma of ghee, saffron rice that emanates from the traditional pot is a delight to all your senses. The hostess was very attentive she came and asked us if there was anything she could do for us around four times since we walked in and this is excluding the times she came to take the order. She was also very eager to ensure that we had a delightful time at copper chimney! The only bummer was that the prices were a little high than we anticipated considering the fact that there was absolutely no complaints regarding the taste of the food or service, just that when you pay that kinda money you expect a far better ambience!. Overall one of my best lunches out in recent times!! Keep up...
Read moreCopper chimney is a very good authentic food Indian place, which is looking like a north Indian restaurant I like the design of the restaurant elements
Food at the establishment is pretty good. I don’t have any complaints about it. It was very good. Taste and I would highly recommend eating here because it’s a very good place to enjoy North Indian flavors cause you don’t really find any north Indian restaurants in South India, so I would definitely take advantage of this place
The service here was actually not the best I’m not saying the employees mean they were pretty nice. It’s just that the weight was very long. We had to wait more than 30 minutes although they said it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I’m pretty sure and the next part is that it took a very long time for the second meal to come. It took 45 minutes plus so I would just say that the weight brought it down by two stars.
The atmosphere was also good. I’m not saying it’s the best. They had creative designs in a very big space so it wasn’t really small but I would recommend eating here. It’s not terrible for the atmosphere, but I can’t say it’s the best.
Overall, this restaurant deserves five stars, but because of the service making it three stars and the atmosphere making it four stars with a total of four...
