Sahibs Biryani — Local services in Zone 13 Adyar

Hidden away from the usual food maps, Sahib’s Biryani is truly a little-known jewel in Chennai’s culinary scene. Yes, it is among the costliest biryanis in the city, but every bite justifies the indulgence.

The mutton biryani was a revelation — the meat pieces were succulently tender, falling off the bone, while the rice was perfectly cooked, light on the palate, and deeply flavorful without being overpowering. Unlike many heavy biryanis, this one had a subtle balance that made it incredibly palatable and memorable.

To my surprise, I even relished the kathirikkai (brinjal curry) served alongside — something I usually skip, but here it complemented the biryani beautifully.

And then came the Sulaimani tea — soothing, aromatic, and the perfect finish to the meal. It tied the whole experience together with warmth and comfort.

Here is my feedback/review.

Packing - Excellent way of packing to avoid any spillage. Awesome.

Mutton Kola Urundai - Portion size is good. Really value for money. It could have been crunchy texture. But it’s good.

Chicken Fry - Liked the spicyness. But chicken was hard and looks like it’s a mature chicken not a tender one. Due to which it was rubbery and chewy.

Prawn Thokku - It lacked the Prawn taste. It was more of like tomato chutney with prawn added to it. Usually prawn thokku should have some tantyness - which is missing here.

Finally - MUTTON BIRYANI - Taste was good. Mutton pieces were very soft and juicy. We enjoyed it. But Quantity was not enough for 5 adults. So we had to order again Biryani from a local shop. Nothing to complain but it was good. Not awesome. There is room for improvement in biryani taste.

Brinjal gravy - Tasted awesome. Enjoyed it.

Bread Halwa - Okayish.

Got introduced to Sahib biryani when our neighbours treated us to this tasty biryani for Ramzan celebration. Following that wonderful experience I ordered online for mutton biryani for 5 and sumptuous biryani with sufficient and succulent mutton pieces were sent along with good number of chicken 65 pieces, bread halwa, raitha and brinjal curry! The biryani taste was too good and the accompaniments added to the taste. The quantity was more than sufficient for 5 persons. The packaging of biryani, chicken 65, raitha, bread halwa and brinjal was excellent. We had asked for delivery of the biryani between 1 - 2 pm and it was indeed delivered at 1:15 pm.
