A Disappointing Experience at Spa Central Batam (Baloi Branch)

My recent visit to Spa Central Batam's Baloi branch unfortunately fell far short of expectations, leading to a largely disappointing experience for both myself and my friends. On the positive side, free transportation was provided, which was a great convenience and certainly a welcome amenity for getting to and from the spa. The initial hurdle of the online deposit requirement for reservations (which I was uncomfortable with) was also bypassed as I managed to secure a slot via a walk-in. The reception service itself was quite good, despite minimal English being spoken. However, once the treatments commenced, the issues quickly mounted. I opted for a 3-hour package, but my relaxation was constantly interrupted by numerous mosquito bites. It appeared they were entering through the connecting toilet windows, a significant hygiene and comfort concern. What made this worse was the complete communication breakdown with the masseuse, who couldn't understand my concerns about the mosquitoes, leaving me feeling unheard and uncomfortable. The "ratus" treatment was surprisingly a physical chore. The stool provided was far too short, making it not only very difficult and uncomfortable but also very hot due to the close proximity. I found myself having to constantly stand up and sit down through the 30-minute session, which completely negated any intended relaxation or benefit. The facial was quite basic and felt rushed. There was minimal extraction, particularly around the nose area, and the overall process seemed hurried, likely due to the impending 10 PM closing time. This left my skin feeling less than thoroughly cleansed. My friends also shared similar frustrations. During their collagen eye treatment, it simply involved placing two eye patches during the facial session, with no actual "treatment" or discernible benefit. Like my own facial, they also noted a lack of thorough extraction. The hair spa service was highly inconsistent and lacked standardization. While one friend received a good blow-dry with hair oil applied, another's experience was poor, with a seemingly inexperienced therapist who did a subpar job and didn't even use hair oil. This glaring inconsistency in service quality is unacceptable for a professional spa. Considering all these significant issues – from the mosquito bites and uncomfortable facilities (including the hot, short stool during ratus) to the communication barriers, basic and rushed treatments, and inconsistent service quality – I found the prices to be quite high for Batam standards. For the amount paid, the overall value and experience were simply not there. Despite the convenience of free transportation, the multitude of problems encountered during the actual spa experience means I would unfortunately not recommend Spa Central Batam (Baloi Branch). We were at Spa Central in Penuin Baloi yesterday. Our team of 5 were split into morning and afternoon session. The two masseuses named Dita and Martha were assigned to massage my hubby and son. They were very well trained and experienced as they knew where and what to do with the very tensed up muscles these guys had. My hubby, who tried spa massage for the first time (he is a diehard fan of chinese “tui na” And “Thai Massage”), kept singing praises about Martha when he met us after his massage.

The masseuses being assigned to us 3 ladies in the afternoon session were very skilful. Vinka and Priska, at our request for medium strength, asserted gentle yet comforting pressure to help ease the very stiff neck and shoulder that my aunt and I have got. And Andah, was very good with her deep tissue massage when my daughter in law asked for “strong” strength. We all left the spa feeling so rejuvenated 👍👍

Special thanks has to be given to Annie, the Customer Service Manager who made sure all the schedule were properly arranged, including picking us up from our Airbnb accommodation and dropping us back. This would not have been possible without Annie’s attentiveness. All the special arrangement were overseen by Annie herself as we were initially supposed to be there during Christmas. However due to some emergency at home we had to postpone to first week of January and Annie was able to assist with all our changes and requests. Her high level of customer service is truly commendable and I would recommend any spa enthusiast to Spa Central in Baloi.

She even went the extra mile To help to check around and recommended a hair salon in Nagoya for my helper who needed to do her hair rebonding although my helper ended up in another salon in Grand Batam Mall for easy commuting back to our accommodation. My husband and I enjoyed our massage/spa session. The therapist were polite and friendly. The ambience was also very relaxing. The pressure applied by both the masseuse Putri and Vinka was on point. Thank you to the helpful receptionist Lilis & Tika. Not forgetting Agnes who replied my whatsapp messages promptly even though I asked a lot of questions. Highly recommend Spa Central Baloi! Can't wait for my next session! 🥰

I came again on 5/6 Jan, (1 day after we went back to SG) because we needed another spa session! I booked the rain mist massage scrub after seeing it on the menu list. I've been to a lot of spas and this is something I've never heard of so I decided to give it a try. I love it! It was very relaxing and I wouldn't mind booking the treatment again. The therapist will scrub your body using Himalayan salt and will wash it after with the rain mist shower using warm water. I highly recommend this treatment if you want to try something different. As usual Vinka and Putri did a very good job. Also thank you to the friendly drivers Kak Yus and Pak Agung for fetching us. Just 1 tiny comment I would like to make is the therapist should check the shower foam/shampoo in the rooms as it was already empty when I wanted to rinse after my massage on the 1st day. I used the shampoo (which was also about to finish left 3-4 pumps) instead. Other than that all is good. Thank you Spa Central for another great service. Will definitely come...
