I wish I could give this place 5 stars because the room, service, butler, and food was amazing. The view is a straighshot to Candi Borobudur although a bit small, but would say as advertised. We even got upgraded to a Residence villa so our group could be nearer to each other. Pak Bimo as our butler was very helpful and very friendly, also very competent. Can't stress enough the food. It was really good and everyone in my family enjoyed it. Very suited to our Indonesia tastes. If it weren't for 2 quite major drawbacks, I would give Plataran Resort a perfect review. The first being the noise from all around our villa. There are multiple prayer loudspeakers going on at once every 2 or so hours from the morning to night, there are events with loudspeakers from nearby locals that start in the morning and at night (music, dangdut, karaoke), and then there is an event going on in the hotel beside ours. For a place advertised as serene and peaceful we could hardly get any. And second the smell of smoke from burning trash around the resort. You'll smell it multiple times a day, but it's at it worst during early morning and around 6pm. It gets bad enough that I can't stay outside for long. Using the pool also becomes uncomfortable when it smells like smoke outdoors. And because the balcony door has gaps, I can still smell hints of it in the room (duplex villa). These maybe factors out of the control of the resort itself (or is it?), but it would be disingenuous not to acknowledge it since it has a big effect on guests' stay in the resort.

We had such a wonderful experience in this place. Even though we had minor issue about the reservation, bur the manager, Mr. Marcel handled the situation excelently. The hospitality of all the staff, especially at the restaurant is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Walking around the hotel without the buggy car, it’s pretty challenging because the path was up and down, and it’s quite steep. During my afternoon walking, I found some hotel attractions such as mini zoo, basket court, and open air kids club. Such a lovely place. The interior of the room is traditionally beautiful and warm. And the bathroom size is almost as big as the room, imagine how spaciuos the entire room is. The breakfast time is the best, but first thing first you must try the morning yoga with the best view. While enjoying your omelette, the musician group will play the javanese traditional music, such a precious moment. But I don’t know of the live music was available everyday or only at the weekend. The spa also offered a mindful and relaxing massage with majestic view of Borobudur. Additionally, the tour that should be in your list is the bike tour. Mr. Wisnu, the staff and also our guide during the tour was helpful and a skillful photographer. He shared us the information about the right time to visit Borobudur regarding the atmosphere of sunrise and sunset, which is quite mindblowing. I guess Plataran will be on my comeback list.

My recent stay at this hotel was a truly indulgent experience. The room was not only comfortable but also featured a spacious bathroom complete with a delightful bath filled with bubbles and salts. The fluffy white towels added to the comfort, and the room's pleasant scent enhanced the overall atmosphere. The hotel's surroundings were equally impressive, boasting a well-maintained garden and a charming mini zoo, providing a sense of tranquility. However, there were a couple of downsides to the stay. First, the loud call for prayer in the early dawn might disturb light sleepers. Additionally, neighboring construction work occasionally caused some noise. The standout moment was the afternoon tea on the terrace, offering a picturesque view of Borobudur Temple in the distance. It is indeed a moment to savor. What truly sets this hotel apart is its exceptional service. The restaurant staff, in particular, were incredibly friendly and attentive. From the warm welcome with a drink and snack to the surprise 5-minute massage upon arrival, this stay was a delightful experience from start to finish. Plus, the array of activities offered, including morning yoga classes, made this stay even more memorable. I can't wait to return for another wonderful stay.

We booked a villa for family reunion and it was a memorable experience. The view from the villa was breathtaking. We could see the Borobudur stupas from the lobby deck. I woke up at dawn to enjoy the sun rise with Borobudur temple in the background. The villas are at the back side of the hotel with its own entrance and lobby. Our villa was spacious and could accommodate 3 families with several extra beds. The kitchen had basic utensils and pots and pan to cook. The bedrooms were big enough to accommodate extra bed in each room. The bathrooms were roomy and clean. The property was clean and quiet. We got complimentary 30 minutes massage and morning tour around the village. Around the resort, there were deer and animal enclosure, kids play area, and some other fun things to do. We also had an hour horse riding session which was fun for the kids. The food from the restaurant was good. We got complimentary snack in the evening but sadly, most of the snacks were gone since we came at the end of the service. The breakfast had variety of traditional Indonesian food, such as gudeg, bubur ayam (chicken porridge), karedok (peanut salad), as well as a bit of Western food (bread, croissant, etc).

My stay at Hotel Plataran Borobudur Resort & Spa was truly memorable. The resort itself is nestled amidst the serene beauty of nature, with breathtaking views of Borobudur Temple and lush green landscapes. It is a hidden paradise, and the entire staff's warmth and hospitality created an atmosphere of pure bliss. The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly our dedicated butler, Bimo, who personally looked after us throughout our stay. His thoughtful care ensured that I felt well and enjoyed every moment of my stay. Despite the unexpected change in my plans due to illness, he went above and beyond to ensure that I felt comfortable and well-cared-for. His attention to detail was remarkable, and he seemed to anticipate my needs before I even voiced them. Thank you so much, Bimo. As for the room, we stayed in a garden villa with a private pool and a private garden. The first thing that struck us was the seamless blend of traditional Javanese architecture with modern comforts and instantly making us feel connected to the soul of Yogyakarta. I highly recommend Hotel Plataran Borobudur Resort & Spa to anyone looking for a magical escape in Yogyakarta, and for a nice weather.

5 star service, view and food. The people would be enough to make the place but the amenities, restaurants, experiences, villas and views are just as good. I am so beyond impressed with my experience that I want to go back. We went to Hindu temple - Prambanan - after we were picked up from the airport by the hotel supplied driver. We had told Plataran that my mom had never experienced rice paddies so our driver took us to all his favourite views with rice paddies, walked us through and took photos for us. When we arrived to the hotel they had such a lovely spread waiting for us with welcome drinks in a very colonial setting. They took our photos so that they could provide to us in the end. The Buddhist trail is worth the extra expense as some of the smaller temples were just as incredible. We also took the cooking class and had the best time. Even though we aren’t the best cooks they were so patient and amicable that it was a fantastic time. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience the Borobudur area. My only caveat is that you should be prepared to wake up early as the local mosques will wake you up at 4:30 in the morning.
