Best activity if you enjoy photography. Navigation is somewhat confusing. You must arrive as early as possible if you wish to pay to enjoy the most expensive option, which is recommended to do.
Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, hat and most importantly your powerbank - you’ll be taking photos like crazy.
Arriving there is a breeze. There is a very visible grand entrance. Proceed quite some distance to the parking area. From there get a free shuttle bus to the ticketing area.
At the ticketing drop zone you’ll follow everyone to the ticketing lines. There are many so you’ll not wait long.
Decide if you’ll pay for general admission or a lot extra for access to a tour to the top of the biggest statue. It’s the 4th tallest in the world. Easily visible from your aircraft and as far away as Canggu and beyond.
You may pay Rp. 40k for a person to drive you to the biggest statue. You’ll miss all the photo opportunities but avoid a lot of walking.
After buying your ticket you must proceed to the rear of the ticketing building. So, you exit then turn right twice. Walk alongside the side of the building. Cross a courtyard and go up some stairs.
Proceed up along a walkway, past lots of souvenir shops and eating places.
On your right you’ll see a fountain area. Walk through here, take lots of photos and don’t get too wet!
Through a rear opening and turn left. More food and souvenir outlets. The pujasera / food court here is your cheapest option in the complex.
Up to here everything is free. You will have had glimpses of the huge statues along the way.
At the ticket gate you proceed. Enjoy the lovely garden area with the pond and cute little turtle statues. After photos proceed up the stairs.
Along the way to the main statue are several other rather grand statues, depicting Krisna, Garuda etc. Tons of walking and photo opportunities.
Along the way is an amphitheatre. Every hour is a 30 minute Balinese dance performance. Each hour is different. 3pm is the most popular so arrive 30 minutes early. That’s the Barong and Legong dances. All the performances are excellent and some feature audience participation. But no spoilers!
At the far end is the main GWK statue. Only ten people at a time may rise to the top. You decide when this will be at the time of ticket purchase at the park entrance or at the GWK statue itself.
If you arrive at the park at, say, 12pm there will be extremely limited slots available. You should have grabbed the earliest slot possible and then build your day around that.
Careful, staff don’t respect slot bookings and they allow people to queue jump if they are angry. Advice: immediately upon arrival proceed to the check in counter at the back. Register. Then go back outside / walk around for photos...
Read moreToday’s weather is cloudy but not too sunny. We when to GWK at Sunday afternoon. The place is clean and the garden is well-maintained. Many flyers installed along the driveway.
From the front of the place, My husband and I didn’t see any security or gatekeeper in the gate entrance. So, we entered the place till we met a security post. He directed us to park closed to their post. After cross checking that we are visitors, the security seems to be regreted because we didn’t park in the visitor’s parking lot. (If i’m not mistaken the parking area that the police meant was around the Revayah plaza, which is far from the security post.) By then, we are allowed to park in the staffs parking lot without turning back to the parking lot should be.
I thought, we are not clearly see the direction in the street or maybe the direction is not clearly directed. What else, when we are going home we see 3 cars came close to the security post next to our parking lot, but requested to be returning back to park in the right place. Then, we saw the same thing occurred to other people who experience as we did. My suggestion to this issue, should the staffs stayed infront of the entrance gate of gwk or parking lot, to direct or inform the visitors, who have visited the place or not at all.
There is no parking fee at the place we park. From the security post, we need to walk around 1-2 minutes to the check in place. Make sure your phone battery is always ready or full. Because you need it for check in process, which is scanning the barcode at peduliLindungi and checking body temperature
The ticket is charged 100 thousand each person. Its also includes watching Tari Kecak at 6 pm and Joged Bumbung at 4.30 pm. Additionally, visitors can ride the gwk shuttle service, for around 30 thousand rupiah each person. At that time, we went there around 15.14 pm. We didn't go in and just sat in front of the ticket booth. We didn’t wait for the activities. We went to other...
Read moreThe included dance shows is the best part of this cultural park, otherwise it is just a long climb to see statues, and nothing else. There is a buggy cart to take you up, for a fee of-course. They honestly could have done better with the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The 2 stars is mainly for the souvenir stall near the entrance gate within the gwk area where you scan your tickets. The guy who was there shouted at everyone who are not caucasian to “DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!” “NO TOUCHING” in a very distasteful tone and expressions. -and when I asked as to why, in Indonesian language, he proceeded to ignore me and I could hear him say disgusting racist things under his breath. In disbelief I tried to ask him again and he, again, said something along the line of “as if ‘you people’ can afford to buy my stuff”. And then proceeded to be very friendly and attentive whenever foreigners of caucasian descent approached the stall. So be careful if you are not of Caucasian descent, a visit to this place may ruin your whole day after such unbelievable treatment. For the Cultural Centre, please train your staff and vendors to do better, especially to fellow Indonesians. Beyond...
