This garden which is one of the buildings of Qajar era had been constructed during te reign of Naseredin Shah and is located on Lotfalikhan Street in Shiraz. This place has been the residential area of Qavam family and the office for his administration. The magnificent Qavam House is enriched with marvelous tile works and amazing embellishments. Because of the abundance of orange trees inside the garden of this house, it has become known as Naranjestan of Qavam. Entry to the building is done after passing through an octagonal corridor which connects you to the main axis of the building. Bricks have decorated the facade of the monument. Two Qajar soldiers are depicted standing with rifles in hands. You vìcan observe inlaid working on the woods of the entrance door. The octagonal corridor has a ceiling decorated with tiles and bricks and star shaped decorations. The building has an area of more than 3500 square meters with total foundation of 490 square meters. The southern part of the building has two porticos with inlaid wooden columns and wonderful plaster work decorations. The northern part has two floors and a portico with two stone pillars is flanked by inlaid doors and windows and a marvelously decorated ceiling full of mirror works and fabulous paintings. The mirror hall is a real feat of Qajar era as its architecture is symmetrical and portico floors are decorated with blue and white tiles in a gorgeous way and attractive plaster work has decorated the porticos’ walls. The building stands two meters higher than the yard and is mainly made of bricks. Its ceiling is covered with beautiful paintings in warm colors and varied patterns. Outside the building you can see bas-reliefs of Achaemenid soldiers, lions, tombs, and pictures of fighting mythological creatures which have been inspired by carvings at Persepolis. A stone pool in addition to date and sour orange trees are facing the building. Ebrahim Khan Qavam-ol-Molk dedicated this beautiful building to University of Shiraz in 1966. It is now Narenjestan Museum which is affiliated to Faculty of Architecture of the same university. Here is a great luxurious attraction and living place to see the aristocratic life style of 19th century Iranians. An interesting thing for you is that you are given the chance to wear traditional Persian clothes and take photos so that you will be able to take your memories of Iran with yourself to your country and make it more memorable to enjoy the best of your travel to Iran during...

Narenjestan Qavam, located in Shiraz, Iran, is a breathtaking historical mansion that offers visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of Persian nobility during the Qajar era. Built in the mid-19th century, this architectural marvel served as the residence of the influential Qavam family, who were prominent figures in Iranian society at the time.

The mansion's name, "Narenjestan," which translates to "Orange Garden," is derived from the fragrant citrus trees that adorn its lush gardens. Stepping through the ornate entrance, visitors are greeted by a symphony of colors, with intricate stained glass windows, vibrant frescoes, and ornamental mirror work adorning the mansion's opulent interiors.

The highlight of Narenjestan Qavam is its exquisite architecture, which seamlessly blends Persian and European influences. From the intricately carved wooden doors to the grand reception halls adorned with shimmering chandeliers, every corner of the mansion exudes elegance and sophistication.

Visitors can explore the various rooms and courtyards, marveling at the craftsmanship of the period furnishings, delicate tilework, and elaborate stucco decorations. The mansion also houses a museum showcasing artifacts and artworks from the Qajar era, providing insight into Iran's rich cultural heritage.

A visit to Narenjestan Qavam is a journey back in time, where the whispers of history echo through the halls, and the beauty of Persian artistry unfolds at every turn. Whether admiring the stunning architecture, strolling through the manicured gardens, or immersing oneself in the rich tapestry of Iranian culture, Narenjestan Qavam is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the enchanting...

Wow! Exelent, beautiful and amazing... Ghavam Orange Garden is located in Shiraz, in the Balakoft neighborhood of this city, near Lotfali Khan Zand Street, and is one of the historical tourist destinations in Shiraz. This building belongs to the Qajar period and belonged to one of the great families of that time called Qavam-ol-Molk family and in fact it was a place for holding meetings of Qajar elders, courthouses and people's places of reference.

The garden has many sights, and its unique architecture is what catches the eye at first glance, with impressive architecture and a combination of mirroring, tiling, embellished and carved elements that go back to that time. Today, it is and will be one of the masterpieces.

In the design of Ghavam orange garden in Shiraz, the principle of symmetry has been used, in the sense that the porch or the hall mirror of the garden in the middle and the rooms are in a harmonious and coordinated manner on the right and left. On the walls of the porch, there are beautiful beds, which is a real example of Qajar art. Also, white and blue tiles have been sold all over the floor of the hall, adding to its beauty. Seeing all these details carefully, it will definitely take days, so we suggest you set aside a few days if you can.

As for the roof of this mansion, in the side rooms of the Hall of Mirrors, the roofs are more than wood, but not simple and completely carved. But after entering the main room next to the porch, you will see a beautifully mirrored and stunning ceiling that can keep you...

Qavam House (also widely called "Narenjestan e Ghavam") is a traditional and historical house in Shiraz, Iran. It is at walking distance from the Khan Madrassa. It was built between 1879 and 1886 by Mirza Ibrahim Khan. The Qavam family were merchants originally from Qazvin. But they soon became active in the government during the Zand dynasty, followed by the Qajar, and Pahlavi dynasty as well. The Qavam "Naranjestan" preserves the elegance and refinement enjoyed by the upper-class families during the 19th century. The paintings on the low ceilings of the house are inspired by Victorian era Europe. The mirrored porch was a focal point of the house, overlooking a small garden that was designed with fountains, date palms, and flowering plants. During the second Pahlavi era, the House became the headquarters of Pahlavi University's Asia Institute, directed by Arthur Upham Pope and Richard Nelson Frye. Frye and his family also lived in the house for a while. The house today is a museum and is open to the public.
