A great introduction was given to us by the guide. But the place is too small and is worth visiting just once. Basically it's a 15th century franciscan church. There isn't much to see. Nobody else was there when we visited the place. They have preserved some of the carvings and the place had a new roof. The entry to the bell tower is not accessible. The cemetery is accessible to the public but there isn't much to see. If you are very much into historical monuments do visit but if you are going for a casual visit I would not recommend. Drove 2 hours to go see it only to find on arrival they had completely shut up shop, put the phones on answer machine and not put up any signage either at the Friary or online to advise customers/visitors of their exodus. Perhaps it was a viking raid in which all the staff were captured and told they didn't have to bother working the winter season or inform anyone as such. It may be the wesht of Ireland but it's 2024 not 1284... SHOW SOME...
