I wandered into Meanwell today. Having given up on health food shops due to the rising costs I was giddy with excitement by both the vast stock, plenty of veg/vegan options and the incredibly low prices. They have an organic ginger cake for €2.85. This price seems like an impossibility in today’s climate. Didn’t think it could get any better until I discovered the excellant produce store next door. Various fresh mushroom options, really good organic veg and endless dried food canisters. They also have a vegan 99 ice cream machine. All in all I spent less than 40 euro and got loads of food for the week. I am blown away. And they’re dog friendly - not only that, they have an extensive pet section also. A 2 shop setup. One shop, the biomarket, is Ireland's first all vegan health food store with a range of products for all dietary needs. A vast selection of savoury to sweet treats for all ages. The second shop is the fruit & veg / minimum waste shop. Here you can get your fruit and veg (all organic unless stated, no limit needed, buy 1 carrot or 10, it's your choice), grains, nuts, you name it. They're all in gravity bins. They're is also a refill section where you can get various shampoos, conditioners, soaps, shower gels, floor cleaners, etc. Bringing your own refill containers for both the household products and food is highly recommended.
