This guest house was just awful!!! WOW! Talk about a big let down. From the time we arrived after travelling for over 20 hours to be greeted by some surly girl with zero manners at the front desk to the time we left this dreadful place it was AWFUL! We arrived at 1pm tired and weary and was rudely informed that we CANNOT check in until 2pm! Really? And you are a Christian Mission? I booked a double room for myself and sister and we got a closet with two children beds, a filthy bathroom that was teaming with mould and mildew and a toilet that was beyond filthy!!!
The bedding was shabby and it was made of old drapery.... YEP! Just nasty. Breakfast was nothing special and it was interesting how the manager and his staff behaved. Anytime you wanted the room cleaned etc, he puts on this charade of "The staff are volunteers and we are a mission" but when it comes time to overcharging you for the room and food, it is NOT a mission, but all business.
The shabbat meal was a joke, they overcharged for a meal from which i got dreadfully ill. The coffee shop charged twice of what i paid for a cup of hot chocolate in the Jewish Bakeries... Baked goods were almost 2-3 times the cost of what you can buy elsewhere. Seriously? You are a mission??? SHAME On you!
You are taking advantage of Christians by using Christ's name. Your greed is just plain ridiculous! You should at least clean the bathrooms so that your guests will not be frightened out of their minds that they will get ill. You are making a living out of conning poor pilgrims.
Even the shabbat service was a JOKE as some fellow kept talking about his children and did not even understand what Shabbat really meant anyway. So ridiculous. Do repent and put CHRIST back into the guesthouse and...
Read moreSpent several nights at the Christian Guest House, located across the courtyard from the church. It was a privilege to be their guest. The ladies at the desk were so accomodating when I found myself unexpectedly without a reservation for 4 nights. They were able to put me up by letting me have a room for a couple nights in a building facing the Tower of David (amazing sight!!!), and 2 nights in another building. I felt as if I had stepped back in time when I had breakfast in their secluded courtyard early in the mornings. Visited the church. It is beautiful and has a very interesting history. Such a peaceful place to sit and rest. An oasis of calm just steps from the somewhat touristy hustle and bustle of the surrounding...
Read moreA must visit. The people there are very friendly, and very open minded. This church is used by all three faiths. They are mostly run by volunteers. Unlike a few places in the old city where we were basically not let in due to the color of our skin, this place was very inviting, and even gave us a free tour about the history of the church, and also the city. This is a shining example of what the city should be, unlike the other experiences I had. Christian, Islamic faiths very inviting to us hindu people, but it the jewish community refused to let us enter, or try to charge 4x the official price just because of the way we look. Its sad that this is what the jewish community does to people or are not of...
