We went to this restaurant after the recommendation of our tour guide, since it was one of the few places around opened on Sabbat. The tour was also offering a discount voucher there, which triggered our alarms to avoid the touristic trap it actually was, but it was the only one we could find. The menu is the typical one of the restaurants in Israel but the portions were quite small for the price they cost.

Best foul, hummus, falafel, chicken shawarma, and baklava of my life! Shawarma was crispy and well seasoned, falafel was fresh and soft in the middle, and hummus with roasted pine nuts with olive oil was a great balance for the saltier dishes. I was stuffed and wanted to try one baklava, ended up ordering two more! And they take credit card as a payment

Lovely place right next to the wall just inside the Old City. Two levels in a relatively small space with wonderful service. Very busy with locals. Food is plentiful and varied local cuisine. A place where locals eat. Prices very reasonable. The Jaffa Gate is minutes away although this street is quiet and away from the bustling crowd.

Very disappointed. We saw this place on TripAdvisor and it looked totally fine, beautiful photos, beautiful dishes. The reality, though, was completely different. It says it is cheap but the prices are totally equal to the one in the new city center, for hummus and grill. We ordered a grill of meat (75 sheckles, in the city center was 80, but at least it was beautiful to see and seemed very abundant) and it arrived a micro plate with three overcooked hamburgers on top. The hummus was not good at all (the one at my house is better, and i am not even middle eastern), the pita was dry. There are other places very good (still expensive in Jerusalem) for hummus and falafel, look for those and avoid this...

My fiance and I went to the old city snd stopped by this restaurant to have lunch. We waited and were seated but afterwards were served horrendous food. The meat was unevenly cooked and both of us noticed a strange taste and smell in our foods. Btw both were separate dishes. I stopped eating immediately but my fiance finished halfway before paying and leaving. When we were five mins away while walking, he got sick and vomitted. This continued on until 30-40 mins on and off. We both drank lots of lemonade and had to clear it out. This place is obviously touristy but sanitation and proper cooking is definitely a necessity in any restaurant. I've been here for almost a month and haven't experienced...

This restaurant was acceptable once we received our food. It took over an hour to receive our food. People that came in after us were served and received their check before we received our food. The food was edible, but the ground meat and hummus was okay. Also tried to go back to this place and felt like I was being interrogated for wanting to sit upstairs. That was the last time I visited Tala. The tour guides tell you to go there. Not the best place.

I would recommend Al Sham on the same street (3 shops in from Jaffa gate), shaved meat off a spit, with much...
