An amazing collection of instruments from nearly 500 years ago, in a beautiful classic building in the heart of bologna.
There's a lot of potential for this collection, and I just think it's a travesty to have these machines collected in one place, no longer serving their purpose of making music! As a visitor you can listen to recordings of the instruments on your phone, but I found it very difficult to resist the urge to play them and hear the acoustics in real life! Surely there is a small robot that could be built that allows guests to hear these things in all their glory?

The palace, where the museum is, was made on the old church of Saint Colombano probably from 616 AD, there are beautiful frescoes on the walls and some ruins downstairs. The museum has many rare instruments and frescoes - one early Medieval in the crypt and many Baroque ones by the school of the Carracci.
