Cala Petròlo — Attraction in Castellammare del Golfo

Gorgeous, secluded beach, easy walk from town. I, too, was disappointed with some trash I found en route, on the beach & even in the water. I don't understand this throughout Italy, as there are ample trash and recycling cans within reach. I took a plastic bag and picked up what I could reach. I just purchased an apartment in town and intend to pick up trash whenever I return. Hopefully others will do the same - and, not dump in the first place! 🙏🏻 Grazie. Rocky beach with a lido and beds. Shallow water is good for kids, but the rocks require shoes for the most part. Little shade if you don't hire beds and umbrella, except a patch in the east corner and under a tree at the entrance. Marine life in the bay is not interesting and most of the seabed is covered in a sort of algae or seaweed. Beyond the bay and around the corner on the east it gets better, but it seems a lot of marine life and flora has left...

The beach is beautiful from afar but that's it. So much dirt, not just on the beach, but in the water as well. There was a weird pungent smell in the water and I couldn't stand being in so I had to walk up quickly again, feeling really dirty. Maybe we were there on an off day but it was disgusting.
