Ristorante Sailing Oltremare — Restaurant in Castellammare del Golfo

A true gem by the sea – a place you’ll want to return to.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and it turned out to be an absolute gem! After spending a week in Sicily, we ended up returning only here – even though it was 30 km away, we had no doubt it was worth every trip.

We completely fell in love with the mussel soup – its flavor was simply out of this world! But that was just the beginning – the grilled octopus, lobster with pasta, pizza, fresh fish, and creamy risotto were all incredibly tasty, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully prepared. To top it all off, the desserts were absolutely delicious and made each dinner feel like a true celebration. Every visit ended with a complimentary glass of something special from the owners – a lovely finishing touch that made us feel truly cared for.

The restaurant is set right by the sea, with a spacious outdoor terrace that allowed us to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views even in the heat. There was also an extra air conditioner in the covered area, adding to the comfort.

But what really stole our hearts were the owners – Wiola and her husband – the true soul of the place. They are incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. It’s clear they put their hearts into every detail, not only in the flavors on the plate but also in the atmosphere they create. When we asked for help arranging a boat trip, they immediately stepped in – and the very next day we were on an unforgettable private cruise.

We will definitely be back – and we’re already looking...

It is unusall to give full five stars but it’s the highest time to do so. We started our “friendship”, yes truly friendship with this restaurant and amazing owner Viola, buying pizza for lunch when all good pizza places were closed due to siesta. Amazing pizzas and Polish owner very open and friendly person. Our kids ate pizzas and were extremely satisfied. We knew we will come back for dinner. Dinner was awesome. Viola hosted us from beginning till the end. Dorada super fresh and good, best Carbonara we ever had, amazing bolognese with local pasta, very good red Sicilian wine and dessert that stolen our heart. Best lava chocolate cake with local gelato (my wife had two-she couldn’t resist). Thank you Viola for your hospitality, super fresh and tasty meals. If we ever come back to Castellammare, we will return to your place 100% for sure......

They charged our card in USD with a 3% markup when we wanted to pay in Euros because they clicked through the menu without asking us. If the amount of money does not matter then why were we not given the option to charge it the way that we want. Why did the waiter choose the option that would charge us an extra 3% then? The receipt CLEARLY stated it would cost 62,50€ and then would charge us an extra 3% if we chose a certain option offered by the MERCHANT which YOU chose for us without our consent. Our capital one card has no foreign fees, we have lived in Germany for over two years now. Scam to get more money because their food isn't worth it.

It's embarrassing to only respond to negative reviews, don't you want to appreciate other people who somehow actually like the desert dry...
