Rocca di Garda — Attraction in Garda

'Rocca di Garda' is undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best) places to visit on Lake Garda. Very often not even mentioned by the tourist itineraries, I discovered it almost by chance during my search of hidden beauties of Verona.

You can park your vehicle at the car park near the entrance to the woods and begin your excursion to the 'Rocca di Garda'. There are signages with the direction to the Rock. After a few steps, turn left and go up the rocky road and take the staircase that, entering the woods. Then it starts to gain altitude and gives you the first views of the village and lake.

The path continues through the woods until it reaches an asphalted road. Always uphill you arrive at the 'Sella della Rocca' where several paths cross. On the left, the path leads, in about 15 minutes, to the 'Eremo dei Camaldolesi', while, on the right, you go up towards the top of the Rock.

The path now consists of stone steps and runs alongside the rocky side of the promontory until it reaches the top with the panoramic point.

From here opens a splendid breathtaking view of the town of 'Garda' and 'Punta San Vigilio' with its characteristic gulf, from an altitude of about 300 meters.

If you wish, you can continue a little further along the path and reach another panoramic point overlooking ​'​Bardolino' with an incredible view of the lower 'Lake Garda'...

Passeggiata da Garda o da Bardolino o da Albarè di Costermano. Necessaria scarpa da trekking con suola ruvida. Purtroppo ancora oggi vedo persone che salgono in infradito. Il soccorso alpino seguita a ricevere segnalazioni per emergenze in zona dovute frequentemente ad una sottovalutazione della pericolosità dell'escursione. Questa è consigliata con l' abbigliamento e l'attenzione che si riservano ai trekking. Ciò per rispetto di chi, portando soccorso, rischia la vita per le emergenze. Invito a salire con una scarpa adeguata, ponendo attenzione a stare almeno a un metro di distanza dal ciglio a strapiombo nei molteplici punti panoramici esposti. Vi sono punti dissestati e sentieri ciechi che terminano con uno strapiombo notevole. In cima e anche durante la salita, perlomeno quella da Garda, consiglio di tenere i bambini vicini - e i cani al guinzaglio, - per la loro tutela ed incolumità. È un'ottima occasione per insegnare ai bambini a muoversi con cautela, a camminare in ambienti pseudo montani, ad avere attenzione per l'ambiente e per chi ci sta intorno. Vi sono punti esposti, gradini, punti rocciosi potenzialmente scivolosi dopo le piogge. Portare i propri rifiuti a casa, come sempre. Portarsi acqua perché non sono presenti fontane. Per il resto è un luogo panoramico, ben descritto dalle altre recensioni, si gode una vista splendida del Lago. Da lì, a meno di dieci minuti a piedi, si può visitare l'eremo di San Giorgio, eremo camaldolese. Allego...

Am besten bis zum Alpini Parcheggio fahren - dort ist in der Regel ausreichend Platz - man muss nur durch die engen Gassen kommen :) Von dort sind es dann noch, je nach Fitnesslevel, 20-30min Aufstieg. Dieser ist aber größtenteils sehr steil und man braucht dringend festes Schuhwerk. Auf dem Weg runter muss man ebenso vorsichtig sein, da man leicht ins Rutschen kommt.

Ansonsten ist der Weg gut ausgewiesen und leicht zu folgen. Auf dem Plateu hat man dann einen super Blick sowohl auf Garda sowie den Süden des Sees :) Idealerweise sollte man zum Sonnenuntergang aufsteigen, aber tagsüber ist es auch machbar, da der Weg dorthin größtenteils im Schatten liegt bzw durch...
