Service good, pizzas acceptable. My own experience: Chicken salad - consisted of thin slivers of pre cooked chicken then fried into chewy cougons. I grimaced and immediately waiter was very responsive, took salad away and approached manager straight away. Manager brought out a whole batch of pre fried cougons and proceeded to eat one in front of me to show me that he thought it was acceptable. I just said a couple of words (equivalent to I don’t agree). No arguments. So the food was taken away. About 10 minutes later the manager emerged with a salad topped by freshly fried chicken. Clearly the restaurant is re frying yesterday’s chicken and serving to tourists if they can get away with it. A sign that this place has low standards. See photo. Chicken comparison can be seen as some old chicken was left on my salad by mistake. I compliment the management for not charging for my chicken salad. That is a good sign but the whole episode should not...
Read moreWe visited Lake Garda back in May this year and ate here a number of times during our stay. The service was wonderful and the staff so attentive. You can't beat the stunning views of the lake. I've recently dreamt of the lobster pasta I ate on the last evening of our holiday which has prompted the review 😅 you can imagine my disappointment when i woke up to find i was not in fact in Lake Garda scoffing pasta, but instead late for the school run. My son- who is something of a pizza expert- voted the pizza a 10/10. High praise indeed. We can't wait to return next year and spend some time sipping limoncello spritz and eating good food on the Lake. We fell in love with Lake Garda on that holiday, and Il Merlo Nero had a big part to...
Read moreThe menu is only available in Italian at this restaurant for a reason!
There is a sea food risotto on the menu that costs 21 Euros, and they told us it is for two people.
Our bill showed that they charged double the amount: 42 Euros.
In response to my question, the waiter told me you cannot take the dish as is, only two dishes, each costing 21... he also said it was written on the menu (in Italian, of course). A dish costing 21 was actually impossible to have, just a double dish that cost twice as much... typical tourist trap...
During our two amazing weeks in north Italy, this was the only restaurant that we had a bad experience at
