If I was basing my review on location and view alone it would be a solid 5/5, but there is much more to it then that! (I’d also give a 3.5 if I could but Google doesn’t allow it)
The hotel itself was stunning, from the balcony view on to the sea, to the room aesthetic and decor of the outside pool area. However a few things let the stay down.
Pros: View - the view is insane, the general scenery and sunset are beautiful The included breakfast is really great (fresh fruit, pastries and then a menu selection such as omelette, eggs Benedict, pancakes etc.) we had lunch and it was expensive but the quality and quantity was decent Pool was beautiful, if you can get up and in the pool for when it opens at 10am you’ll have the space to yourself for a good half hour, even on a busy day. The main pool was also nice and clean during our stay. Beds, very comfy & generally the room feels very relaxing and chilled. Every room has a sunset, sea and pool view which is great The staff at the front desk were very helpful, and the waiting staff serving the beds were very attentive. Plenty of room to park your car, albeit a tricky descent down the cliff side to get to it - but perfectly manageable and not a paid car park which is more typical in the region. Great location if you want to travel around to sorrento, capri, even the amalfi coast isn’t far by car if you have one available
Cons: When we arrived our room wasn’t up to the cleanliness standards you’d expect for the price you pay. The floor was covered with what looked like the previous guests’ head hair & pubes as well as one towel that wasn’t as clean as we would hope for The outdoor area the morning after Maya’s weekend parties wasn’t great. Glasses and rubbish left and not cleaned until later in the day - again when you’re paying the price to stay there you expect better The front desk and waiter staff were mainly very pleasant and friendly. The bar staff on the other hand were rude and ignored us on a few occasions, albeit we don’t speak Italian very well so there may have been a language barrier For a Malibu and coke + a bottle of beer we paid €45 (madness) on the party nights
All in all we really enjoyed our stay, it was just a few things that tainted the stay. If you’re looking for an extremely ‘instagrammable’ experience and aren’t too fussed about cleanliness then this is for you.
If I was to recommend this place I would say come during the midweek when there are no evening events and enjoy the beauty and luxury of...
Read moreWhat supossed to be a relaxing last day around the Amalfi coast ended up in the worst day we had. The location is really nice and the beachclub itself looks really good as well, but it's clear if you book the cheaper experience you're really treated differently. After stressing out a few times we could get an upgrade, which we didn't thought was necessary, we were brought to our sunbeds in garden 2. It's clear that the guests staying here as well as the surroundings don't get any attention. What is described as a beautiful English lawn is basically just dead grass full of weed and behind us the dirty towels and cloths the cleaner had cleaned the changing rooms and toilets with.
As we got our sunbeds without any further instructions about the beachclub itself I was wandering around to find the changing rooms and showers. I asked someone walking around and he had no idea so he was going to ask someone else. Unfortunately he didn't get back to me at all. While I was waiting for him to come back to me he was bringing other people to their sunbeds, leaving me behind. Not very polite and strange the staff doesn't even know where these services are located. I went to the reception to ask and it turns out there are no showers as described on the website.
The toilets near garden 2 were not cleaned during the day. The floors were wet, toilet paper all over the floor and some doors couldn't be locked.
As we knew before no service to our sunbeds was included, so I went to the bar to order some drinks. After waiting for a while they quite rude told me to go to the reception, pay there and then come back. So there I went again... For lunch we thought we could do a take away, so later on I went to the reception again, but this time I was directed to the restaurant itself. Here they laughed at me telling me that's not possible at all and we could only have lunch at the restaurant. No problem at all ofcourse, but if you could tell me this in a calm and nice way without making me feel stupid we would have done that. Instead we packed our stuff and left the place.
It's clear that if you don't book the full experience with service included, you don't get any service at all. If you don't want to have guests like us, please don't offer this service at all so we wouldnt have booked this and had a fun last day of our holiday instead of this...
Read moreThis place has incredible views and as an experience, my girlfriend and I had a great time here but there are a few things people should know before going.
Getting there - if you get a private taxi from where you are staying to the beach club, they will drop you off at the top of the hill where you can be bused down to the club by staff. This is a free service but we gave a small tip to the driver as the road down is like spaghetti.
Experience - once you enter and pay at reception you are shown to your loungers. Depending on how much you pay and whether you are a guest at their hotel is what counts for how close your are to the pool, the scenic view across the water and quality of lounger and umbrella. The food and drink is expensive so keeping tabs on your pre paid credit is recommended as you can easily spend €40-50 on two drinks. Important to note that the water is not complementary and you are changed for each bottle before you leave.
The Pool - the large pool is a salt water pool and is perfect for dipping in and out of to cool down, relax and take in the views. It can get busy around the edges as people will have their drinks close by but the middle is generally empty.
The Seafront - you can walk past the pool to a small area where you can take a dip into the sea. The rocks you need to use to enter are slippy so be careful! You can enter into the sea for a proper swim but the waves can be big so I would stick to the pool if you are not a strong swimmer.
The service - as other reviews have mentioned, the service is typical to the area. I would disagree with some saying that staff are rude. I just think they are done caring about the pre-Madonna clientele they attract. We had no issue with any of the staff and took their attitude for what it was.
To summarise, the experience we had was great. We stayed for the whole day and left as they were setting up for the evening experience. The food and drink is expensive but we felt the price was worth the trip from where we stayed in Sorrento. We would give this five stars if the service went above and beyond and if the food and drink were...
