This review if entirely based on my experience. So, I am an Indian doing masters of science at Polimi and had applied for US visa to visit my brother. When i was in the queue, the security guy came and of all he just asked my passport (I assume its because i was not white) i do agree that its good to clear the doubts but in that case some times a bit cautions should be taken, he could just have asked one or two more people along with me that would may have avoided the obvious racial treatment. If this was not enough, while entering the front door, there was an another guy who started giving me instructions in Italian i requested him to please speak english so that i could understand , he did but he spoke something that was beyond understanding . When he entered there is an another guy (he was nice though) near the x ray thing he asked me to give jacket and bag so i did and since on airport you need to give wallets he offered that and the moment i took my wallet the same guy who had given the instructions started yelling at me as if he is gonna shoot me . I seriously do not understand what made me yell. But in any case racism is everywhere so could not complain but my sincere advice apply to this consulate only if you are...
Read moreMy bag with my passport was stolen at the train station and I needed to get a new one the next day before I headed to the next city. What was a very stressful and upsetting situation was made so much better by the friendly, helpful, and competent people at the consulate. I showed up at 8 am and was second in line. I walked out of the consulate with an emergency passport in my hand by a little after 10 - they are quick!! A few tipsâ Youâll need ~170⏠for the process, in cash, including an exact 5⏠note for the passport photo machine inside the building Wear a watch and bring a book or magazine to read while you wait - you will not be allowed to bring your phone or any electronics inside. If you have a large bag theyâll tell you to store it in the cafe nearby, which costs 5⏠Show up as early as possible!! By getting there at 8 I was able to keep the process quick, but by the time I left there was a fairly long line outside the building. Beforehand, print and fill out the DS11 and DS64 forms and bring them with you, along with a copy of your passport
Overall this was a shockingly smooth and painless process, which was comforting given the...
Read moreThey give you an "appointment" AFTER you pay the fee, but it's not just for you in reality but for a big group of people. Therefore be ready to spend a couple of hours in line. No privacy whatsoever. In a small room, you will be interviewed in front of other 40 people (the interviewer is behind the glass) Having my company here in Italy, husband, I've lived here for 7 years I was not granted a visa for 3 weeks to have a vacation. The interviewer was arrogant and kept asking about my husband and why I'm going on a vacation without my husband. Really? Is it so strange in 2023? Do I have to be chained to him? One of my worst experiences. I felt "not worthy" the whole time. Even at Poste Italiane, you get better service. They at least have chairs and a clock on the wall. (Here you have to leave your devices outside, so you don't even know what time it is) Oh well, I actually can live without visiting your country and can spend my money...
