A truly unforgettable experience — charming, delicious, and deeply thoughtful.
I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical at first when I learned the hotel was built in the 1950s. I worried it might feel old or outdated — but I was so wonderfully wrong.
The moment we stepped into the contemporary, beautifully designed lobby, all my doubts disappeared. It’s elegant and charming, with a unique personality that sets the tone for the entire stay. The rooms are equally captivating — they don’t try to strip away the history or modernize everything. Instead, they embrace the building’s heritage, making you feel like you’re living inside a beautifully preserved medieval-inspired space, with thoughtful renovations that enhance rather than erase its character.
Although the hotel was renovated in 2012, you can tell that some pieces are still original from the 1950s — and I became completely obsessed with those details. Every corner felt like a step back in time in the best way. It’s rare to find that kind of balance between old-world charm and modern comfort, and I genuinely appreciated it.
Now — the breakfast. It completely blew me away. I’ll forever crave it.
The pastries were divine, filled with fresh custard infused with real vanilla bean — not the usual hotel-grade stuff. The waffles and pancakes were out of this world — fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly made. Honestly, I usually lower my expectations when it comes to hotel breakfasts, but this one far exceeded them.
Two standout details I loved: the cold-press juice machine, where you can customize your own blend, and the fresh honeycomb — such a beautiful, natural touch.
But what truly made this stay unforgettable was the people. The staff were phenomenal — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring.
Two people deserve special mention: Alexandra and Ian M.
Alexandra was an absolute gem. When my daughter accidentally burned herself with my curling iron, she not only helped us immediately but went out of her way to speak directly with a local pharmacy and guide us on what to do next. Later, she sent a handwritten note to our room with a list of nearby salons when I asked about getting my hair done — a thoughtful touch I didn’t expect. And when we mentioned we were heading to Como, she even shared smart, time-saving tips to help us avoid the long queues. Her kindness and care will forever be imprinted in my heart.
As for Ian M., he handled what might seem like a small issue with genuine compassion. My daughter’s tiny stuffed Jellycat toy (a fried egg!) went missing — likely caught in the laundry with the bed sheets. Ian reassured us, investigated the issue, and arranged for it to be shipped all the way to our home in Dubai. His kindness turned a potential heartbreak into a moment of trust and care.
From the design to the food to the staff, this hotel has soul. We didn’t just feel welcomed — we felt seen, valued, and cared for. A rare and beautiful experience that we’ll...
Read moreOverall the Westin Palace Milan was around a 4.5 but I am rounding down due to some minore notes of improvement. We had a lovely stay and used points and suite night awards with no issue, so a huge thanks in advance for that. Kudos to all the staff.
The room was extremely large and well appointed. We were upgraded via the suite night awards to a deluxe suite which was as advertised less the steam room. They mentioned only two deluxe suites exist? We had no issue not having the steam room (minor disappointment) because we were just happy for the upgrade! Just a note in case you book this room for money and expect it. The other room must have it.
The front checkin was easy and though we arrived an hour before, they secured our luggage and the room was ready on time. When we entered we were greeted by excellent furniture, well laid out floor plan, and nice large TVs with streaming capability. The minibar is stocked (lightly) with complimentary alcohol and water for this suite. Overall, the room was a tad run down (carpet stains and cracked molding) but was up to expectations and absolutely lovely otherwise. Also, awesome A/C during 100 F days, best European air con award for a Westin, ha!
The breakfast was also fantastic. As Platinum Elite we chose this benefit I highly recommend you do as well. The bar is also lovely, though €20 for a drink, you get some light snacks and the drinks are delicious.
My only minor issue was with housekeeping. Overall they were fine, but missed items like dirty glasses, replacing our robe, and replenishing Nespresso. After conversing with the night team they remedied the situation quickly (many thanks)! However, they still never took our dirty glasses? Strange. I did love that the first housekeeper left us beautiful flowers, a nice touch.
Lastly the location is IDEAL! Right next to metro, street cars, and the train station (centrale). We did 3 day trips during our 5 nights with ease and felt safe enough walking back.
Overall I think this Westin is lovely and met a lot of our expectations. The minor issues could be easily improved which I shared with the front desk. I would be happy to return.
Pros: huge rooms, well appointed, great air con, lovely staff, great breakfast, nice bar, premier location for travelers, cleared suite night awards.
Cons: housekeeping could use some improvement (not bad, just not great), descriptions of rooms might need modification, some minor repairs to rooms and deep clean of carpeting, small elevators (wasn’t a huge issue), keycards randomly stopped working (remedied quickly).

Read moreSo we were going to be in Milan for the night And We usually stay at An other higher end property, But we wanted to be closer to the city center so we decided on the Westin I am an SPG member and I booked from my app I chose a king room, A little higher than what we like to pay but for the area we decided to go with it ..
We checked in around 4 pm. The valet greeted us and I said that I would like to pay to self park . He said we don't offer that service I will park the car and it will be $45 Euro a night. I told him that your website says it's $26 to self park he's said no we don't offer that . He said that our Fist 500 was too big that's why it's $46? I said that unacceptable and he said well I can go $36 Euro? I've never had to haggle so a Westin property before I felt like I was being taken advantage of! Meanwhile Jim was trying check in there were no customers ahead of him and the man behind the counter wouldn't wait on him? I walked up and said excuse me I'd like to checkin . I gave him our info and asked him about the parking He said it's whatever the man outside said it would be ? I said your website said it would be $26 to self park and up to $62 for Valet, and I showed him the Westin website .He said that's wrong we dont offer self Park? Really? So he gives us the card keys and says go through those doors and look for 165. Doesn’t offer to have our luggage brought to our room? We follow his instructions and walk through 3 sets of doors and there was no room 165, it only went to 145? So I walk back to the front desk and ask another person at the front and she says that you need to take the elevator to the 3rd floor? That makes no sense and why wouldn't of the first guy told me that? I really felt uncomfortable with his attitude towards us very rude . So the room was nice great bed and the bathroom looked ok. But much to our dismay the shower was ridiculous. No curtain or door so when you turned it on water was splashed everywhere on the floor. Also the controls to the shower didn't work There was no way to turn off the wand so water was everywhere. So we only stayed one night . We checked out in the morning and once again Rude front desk man wouldn't wait on us and we were the only ones checking out? So the room ends up being over $150 than what was quoted on the SPG app. Even with parking and taxes it was over! Really overpriced and I'm very sorry I chose Westin. And will probably never use...
