Loggia del mercato — Attraction in Noto

It's parallel to Nicolaci street, it's the one when the biggest event in Noto happen: the Infiorata. Via Rocco Pirri has become one of the busiest streets in recent years. The Old Market or Loggia del Mercato has been hosting the Sicilian Regional Enoteca for a few years, where associated farmers show their wines, extra virgin olive oil, jams and other typical local products. Definitely worth a visit on a food and wine tour, especially thinking that this was the old City Market where the farmers and fishermen came from the adjacent countryside and from the sea to bring their products here. Excellent in so many aspects. Food, wine, the service and the atmosphere. My son (12y old) loved so much the ravioli with ricotta filling and shrimp sauce that he asked to have a second serving and then went to congratulate the chef. The ravioli with fish filling (ricciola) were also delicious. Home-made bread with Tumminia wheat was served hot and was really tasty... and we couldn't help do "scarpetta" with the rests of sauce. ...

Entrare in questo ristorante è come varcare la soglia di un set firmato Tornatore: luci soffuse, atmosfera d’altri tempi. Il copione? Una sceneggiatura scritta col cuore, dove ogni piatto è una scena madre filmata da una ultra panavision 70.

La selezione special di uramaki è il prologo che ti cattura, i ravioli, ripieni di spada con sugo ai pomodorini di pachino e spada, è l’ atto che sorprende con colpi di scena inaspettati tra consistenze e sapori. La ventresca di tonno? Un climax da standing ovation. E quando credi che il film sia finito… arriva il finale: il cannolo alla ricotta che ti spiazza, lasciandoti in silenzio, occhi chiusi, titoli di coda sul palato.

Il cast? Perfetto. Il maître Marcel è il regista invisibile che dirige senza disturbare, lo chef è l’attore protagonista: compare sul set, sorride, scompare. Ma la sua firma rimane in ogni fotogramma del gusto.

Un’esperienza sensoriale che non si dimentica. Se la cena fosse un film, sarebbe da Oscar.
