Absolutely wonderful! We started in Positano and finished in Praiano. There is a lot of steps! Very many! I cannot say exactly how many but there is a lot! Finally you reach the actual start of the trail. Some mild inclines and declines as well as very steep, rocky areas. The path follows the edge, and i mean edge, of the mountain in some areas without any type of guard or rails. There are some very nice, cool areas of tree cover and we even found a couple of picnic style tables and seating. Old villas, terraces lined with vegetables and fruit trees and amazing house locations can be found along the trail. But the big event... the amazing views! Yes... AMAZING!!! Not enough can be said about the view. You can see the entire south side of the Sorrentine peninsula as well as the Li Galli islands and Capri. At the top, you can choose to go to Bomerano, where you would take a bus back to Amalfi and another back to Positano, or continue down to Praiano and catch a bus to Positano. We chose Praiano. This portion of the trail does not appear to be used very much and i think we found out why. The steps are very high, steep and inconsistent. Although you come down fairly quickly in altitude, if you have bad knees or joints, you might regret this option. Once you reach the houses in Praiano, there is one last set of steep but consistent steps. Take a right turn at the bottom and head to Trattoria San Gennarro for a very much needed meal. My trail recommendations: good shoes with a stiff sole, water and some ibuprofen. 😁 I would recommend this trail to anyone but you must be ready...
Read moreThe stairs are no joke. This is not a hike for kids or anyone with any physical limitations. At parts the stairs can be uneven, rocky, steep without hand rails. However, if you’re in decent shape and want a slight challenge, this is a BEAUTIFUL hike. There is a water station at the top of the climb before you start going across the ridge line. From Praiano to the top, we passed maybe 3 people. The ridge line was more crowded because there are multiple entrances and tour guides take people up in a shuttle, hop off at the ridge line and do a short hike to see the views. Stop in Nocelle at Lemon Point for a lemon granita - so refreshing after a hike. From there it’s all downhill (stairs) to Positano. Also go in the morning, the cliffs provide shade from the sun for most...
