What a surprise!!! A visit to the old days where you can see many of the utensils used by the owners grandfather and it will give you an idea on how was life back in the day!!! The owner will show you several of the pieces and explain how they used them. You can even buy several of the handmade pieces made by him! If you ask him he can show you how to use a spinning top!! What a flashback!!! Don’t expect a fancy, overrun tourist location. This is a down to earth tour of the old Sicilian life.

Beautiful small museum, an ethnic museum actually, with the host being the grandchild of the people who lived there, himself having grown up there. Such interesting stories and artefacts, and besides the man himself is a treasure - without artistic studies he creates such a wealth of objects for tourists to buy, some traditional ones like the trottola game -truly captivating, we bought on and want to practice to develop the skills. It is must visit when in Scicli!

Nice, tiny private museum, where Sig Carmelo enthusiastically shows how was the life of the family of his grandfather, who lived in the caves over the town. On display there are many old items from their daily life and his workshop where he creates various artistic and souvenir bits. One cave includes a nice, elaborate Nativity scene. A surprising place definitely worth the short walk upstairs from the town..

I recently visited the A Rutta ri Ron Carmelo Museum, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! This unique museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing how people once lived in beautifully preserved cave dwellings. The atmosphere is incredibly authentic, with original furnishings, tools, and decorations that make you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time.

The guided tour was excellent—informative, engaging, and filled with interesting historical details. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer any questions. The museum is well-maintained, and the attention to detail in preserving these historical homes is remarkable.

What makes this place even more special is the peaceful and picturesque surroundings. The cave houses blend perfectly with the natural landscape, creating a magical and immersive experience. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a unique cultural experience, this museum is a must-visit!

I highly recommend the Cave House Museum to anyone visiting the area. It’s an extraordinary place that beautifully showcases history and tradition in a truly...

Very small - it IS built in a cave dwelling - and clearly a labor of love. The caretaker preserved his grandparents' home to share the lifestyle. He speaks little English but we managed as he eagerly walked us through how they slept, cooked, washed, and lived. It is also packed with all kinds of crafts, display pieces, models, toys, and tools that he made himself - a man of many talents! He sells them to stores in town, who then sell them to tourists, but you can buy directly from him. Also note the Google maps location isn't quite right - go further down the street till you see the signs. NOT driving accessible even if you have a little Fiat 500. Park and take a nice walk down the teeny, medieval...

Place was good many things to see inside, they charge €4 for entrance, they dont give us to enough time to see the place. They just switch on light and explain very fast and switch off lights i really disappointed because i have already paid €4 for entrance and he didnt allowed to enough time to see clearly. Just less than 5 minute he allowed to see whole place and he selling some gift and postcard inside he allowed to more time that part. If someone pay for visit and see somthing they have right to see how they want. And another thing he is not allowed to video and he is not happy to if we...
