Friendly staff but we had a terrible experience. We ordered arancini. One was still a bit frozen on the inside so we called a waitress and explained that we tasted a frozen bit. So far, not a problem. This can happen. Unfortunately all arancini were finished so we couldn't have an other one and didn't order anything else in stead. Still something that can happen. The waitress took it back (we only had a fifth of it or so before we had the frozen part) and that was that. The other arancino tasted good and was slightly warm on the inside, not hot like the ones we had before in other places but we didn't mention this. When we asked the check however, the arancino was still on it while nobody came to our table to discuss the issue. When we said that we didn't agree to pay it, some guy (the owner?) started discussing with the waitress that it was impossible that it was still a bit frozen. I was surprised that not only the guy refused to speak with us directly but only through the other staff which is just plain rude. But also that he didn't even bother to come to our table immediately to come and discuss the issue with us or to return the arancino that according to him was fine. Fact was that we tasted a frozen bit and it was cold inside and we mentioned this as soon as we noticed so there was almost a whole arancino left and it was not a trick from us to get the arancino for free. For what they charge for a arancino, I expect it to be good. Thank god the other waitress stayed calm and polite. In the end we didn't pay for the arancino but the guy just kept shouting in Italian to the waitress that it was impossible and some other things that we could not understand while we were standing there. I hope he doesn't treat every customer or tourist the same when there is an issue.
I was just so baffled by the behaviour of this guy that I took the time to write this. We are honest people just wanting to enjoy a small bite in Scicli but never we were treated like this at a restaurant in case...
Read moreThe location is so beautiful that they need little effort in getting the right ingredients for their food. Our vongole were muddy. Growing up in Naples, I know that no local vongole should taste that slimy or smell so brackish. The bread was excellent. We were very hungry. So we ate everything. But it’s so disappointing to sit in such a beautiful place and be served such mediocre food with little or no authenticity. It feels almost disrespectful toward Sicily, Italy, the amazing ingredients we have. Service was very good, though. The music is incongruous. We are in Italy. Play Bellini. He was from Catania and composed some of the most melodic arias you’ll ever hear. Or play...
Read moreOMG! Never again! Asked to be moved as it was overcast, they did move us reluctantly as they mutted that the weather forecast was sunny...it started raining 15 minutes later. They moved us to a table near bushes infested with bees!! My husband killed 3 with his hand, another one drowned in my son's glass of coke!! The food was nothing to brag about and then they said their EFTPOS was not working and could only accept cash. We told them the whole experience was dreadful to which the extremely rude lady (who is fortunate to have a job) replied...we didn't ask you to dine here!! 😱 She would not last a day in Australia. I suggest you stay in Scicli. Please don't...
