Feeling completely at home while exploring one one of Sicily’s gems is what you’ll do at Mercure Siracusa Prometeo . When we drove by the busy city centre of Ortigia we were a bit overwhelmed by all the traffic but we felt completely at ease when we arrived at Mercure Siracusa Prometeo . They immediately assigned us our parking spot and we could put the car on the side for a few days of relaxing. Our room was huge and had an amazing Jacuzzi shower and bath, a huge and comfortable bed, plenty of closet and storage space and not to forget a smart tv offering us to watch Netflix straight out of bed. Home sweet home we felt. The breakfast was insanely delicious and offered plenty of the local dishes as croissants and cannolis (filling my own croissants was my favourite part) as well as a traditional buffet. Breakfast was served at the rooftop so you could enjoy the incredible views over the city and Greek amphitheatre, as well as over their rooftop pool. Yes, you heard that right. Hot afternoons can be spend at this refreshing pool on top of the roof! The beautiful city of Syracuse, with the Ortigia island part as our personal favourite, is located within walking distance from the hotel which is perfect for those who like to do a lot of sightseeing or don’t feel like driving everywhere and looking for parking spots at every corner. And believe us, it can get busy there over summer, so having your secured parking spot isn’t asked for too much. On top of that the greek amphitheatre was approx a 5 minutes walk and Ortigia island approx a 15 minutes one which makes this hotel the perfect base to get most out of exploring the city and all of this in the most relaxed way as it should be on holiday.

We stayed in a Standard Room (Double Bed) for 1 night and were very satisfied with our stay. Carpark was free, and check-in was a breeze. The hotel’s reception area was spacious and very modern. Staff were friendly and can communicate in English very well. Our room was up to the standard of a Mecure hotel. Our bed was comfortable, and the room was well cleaned. The shower was hot with good water pressure, and basic toiletries were provided for. The light bulb of the table lamp on the writing desk was blown, and we called the Reception, which very promptly sent a maintenance staff to come and change it for us. That, to us, was efficient service, although it would have been better if Housekeeping had ensured that all amenities are working well in the room before guests were checked-in. We had dinner on our night there, as it was already late when we arrived, and we were too tired to drive into town. The service and food were good, although we were there at almost closing time. We slept very well at night, despite the fact that our room faced the main road into town. We are satisfied with our stay, and have no qualms at recommending this hotel to others who are looking for a comfortable hotel to rest, after a tiring day of exploring the archaeological sites.

Mercure Spa pedicure - total waste of time and money! I would recommend to stay away.

I just returned from a pedicure session and I feel extremely disappointed. Probably one of the worst pedicure service experience I've ever had because:

most of the process happen on the dry skin - the soaking lasted probably less than 3 minutes; nail polish removal took about 10 minutes - it takes me 2 minutes at home with the right products; the whole service was very amateur like; as were the tools used (picture attached); the result is that I have painted nails, but of different size (picture attached); the nail polish offer was extremely limited (picture attached); the price is crazy expensive for what you get;

the spa staff was very friendly and they did make my appointment on a very short notice (if I am completely honest, I really wished they didn't).

Later edit: Triggered by the reply from the Spa Manager (thank you for taking the time to reply to my review), I did a quick search on the internet for salons in the area that offer manicure treatment with specialized personnel. As expected, the prices are lower than what you I paid at the Spa center, whereas the treatment time is similar and I convinced the quality of the final result is much better. I've attached a picture showing the prices of one of the salons...
